Produce Crew Member

Job Summary of Produce Crew Member:

As a Produce Crew Member, you will deliver a great customer experience while pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise in the Produce Department. You will maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing department, ensuring produce is fresh, properly handled, and attractively displayed. You will also assist with deliveries, follow food safety standards, and support department operations while promoting company initiatives and providing friendly customer service.

Responsibilities of Produce Crew Member:

• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Promote for sale any current charitable promotions to Customers.
• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, and restocking produce to ensure quality and freshness.
• Be knowledgeable in and able to differentiate between various types of produce, including taste, seasonality, use, and pricing differences.
• Keep display cases and other merchandising areas stocked, signed, and attractively arranged.
• Control freshness, quality, and temperature of products by following safe food handling practices.
• Handle spoiled or damaged products according to Company policy.
• Regularly lift, pull, push, and rotate merchandise that weighs 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
• Unload deliveries and transport merchandise to the Produce Department using appropriate equipment.
• Check refrigeration and storage areas for proper performance and report issues immediately.
• Utilize and maintain department equipment properly; report equipment problems promptly.
• Maintain sanitation standards by sweeping, mopping, and removing refuse as needed.
• Operate baler and compactor in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Dress and groom according to Company policy, including uniform, name badge, and hair restraint requirements.
• Use disposable gloves and follow QA hand washing standards when handling food.
• Perform all duties in accordance with Company rules, policies, safety requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Adhere to HAZCOM procedures and manufacturer guidelines for safe use of chemical products.
• Understand and follow all Country of Origin Label (C.O.O.L.) regulations for produce items.
• Understand and adhere to Company shrink guidelines for the Produce Department.
• Complete all applicable department training programs.
• Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
• Stand at assigned workstation for the duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Work overtime as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Produce Crew Member:

• To use balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and cutting tools, individuals must be above the age of 17.
• Capability to comprehend, analyze, interpret, read, write, and communicate proficiently in English.
• Skill in engaging with fundamental math concepts.
• Capability to stand and move around for the complete duration of the designated shift.
• Ability to remain in an upright position, bend, twist, stretch, push, pull, and routinely lift 25 lbs., with the potential to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
• Skill in managing tasks in different temperature settings, including refrigerated and high-moisture environments.
• Adequate skill in handling different types of fresh, dried, or processed products, spices, and powders without any negative effects.
• Skillset to endure dust and cleaning agents while executing typical household cleaning tasks.
• Ability to engage with customers in a supportive and friendly manner.
• Proficiency in collaborating with fellow team members.
• Capacity to complete all designated work hours and abide by regulations regarding attendance and time management.
