The Deli Department Team Member provides friendly, efficient service by slicing, packaging, weighing, and selling deli products, including meats and cheeses. Key job functions, primary tasks, and core responsibilities:

• Enhance member satisfaction by responding promptly, recommending products, and facilitating unique orders.
• Prepare, measure, and package various deli products like meats, cheeses, and ready-to-eat items for retail sale.
• Enable members to make informed decisions by providing them with a selection of sample products to choose from.
• Inspect deli deliveries to confirm freshness and quality levels.
• Supervise the organization, rotation, and display of deli products in alignment with safety measures and freshness standards.
• Conduct daily inspections for outdated items and ensure they are disposed of or salvaged appropriately.
• Establish a schedule for cleaning and sanitizing deli equipment and work surfaces consistently.
• Properly and safely utilize slicers, scales, and rotisserie ovens while operating equipment.
• Correct pricing and labeling practices hinge on the accuracy of scale systems, underscoring the importance of precision.
• Maintain conformity with BJ's policies and procedures by following them consistently.
• Undertake additional tasks as directed, including assisting in other departments when necessary.
• Consistently attending work as scheduled is a key responsibility in this role.

Qualifications:

• Having worked in a deli or food service environment before is a plus.
• Familiarity with slicers, scales, and other deli equipment is desirable for this position.
• Mastery of deli selections and best practices for food hygiene and safety.
• The minimum age for consideration is 18 years.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• Recurrent standing and walking on firm terrains.
• Occasional lifting, bending, and reaching, including objects up to 30 pounds in weight (assistance necessary for heavier loads).
• Manage exposure to different temperature extremes while working near ovens, freezers, and coolers.
• Occasional contact with household cleansers.
