Job Summary:
H-E-B is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Deli Manager to lead the operations of our high-volume Food Services Department. In this role, you'll oversee deli production, merchandising, food safety, and team leadership, all while ensuring top-tier customer service. As a leader in our Partner-owned business, you'll play a vital role in driving department performance and creating a welcoming, engaging atmosphere for customers and Partners alike.
Responsibilities:
Department Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the deli, ensuring food safety, quality, inventory, and cleanliness standards are consistently met.
- Manage scheduling, payroll, labor budgets, and compliance with company policies.
- Hire, train, and evaluate staff performance; foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Resolve Partner-related issues, ensure team morale, and encourage long-term Partner retention.
Sales & Profitability:
- Monitor sales metrics and set performance goals; track progress and develop plans to exceed targets.
- Execute merchandising and marketing strategies to increase foot traffic and promote seasonal and high-margin items.
- Minimize shrink, control food and supply costs, and ensure profitability through accurate forecasting and inventory control.
- Use data insights to adjust inventory levels, pricing strategies, and labor deployment as needed.
Customer Service:
- Deliver an exceptional experience by promoting a “People First” culture.
- Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback; train team to consistently provide outstanding service.
- Model suggestive selling techniques and support Partners in delivering tailored recommendations.
Sanitation & Compliance:
- Enforce all federal, state, and company food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain and monitor department cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure cold chain compliance and safe storage of perishables.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 1+ years of experience in retail food service or deli management.
- Prior leadership experience managing a diverse team in a high-volume environment.
- Experience with inventory control, ordering, shrink management, and merchandising.
- Completion of H-E-B's School of Retail Management (SORM) preferred or required upon hire.
- Proficiency in H-E-B systems such as XPTR, IMS, and CICS2 (preferred).
- Understanding of retail accounting principles and department-level financial tracking.

Salary:
Estimated Range: $55,000 $75,000 annually, depending on experience.
Includes performance-based bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term ownership opportunities.
