Job Summary of Grocery Sales Clerk:

As a Grocery Sales Clerk, your key responsibility involves delivering superb customer service while undertaking tasks such as pricing, stocking, facing, and rotating products in the Grocery Department. You are expected to uphold a clean, safe, and organized environment, monitor inventory levels, and adhere to company policies and safety guidelines to ensure the smooth functioning of the department.

Responsibilities of Grocery Sales Clerk:

• Promote safety and efficiency by upholding cleanliness, orderliness, and organization in the workplace.
• Comply with sanitation and quality assurance standards during the cleaning and sanitizing of work areas and machinery.
• Keep the floors free of spills, debris, and blockages to promote safety.
• Welcome all guests with kindness and offer them immediate, courteous service and assistance.
• Pay attention to safety measures when handling equipment.
• Keep shelves and displays consistently stocked, arranged neatly, and visually appealing.
• Check that discounted items have appropriate signage to increase sales.
• Follow authorized protocols when receiving, code dating, storing, and marking prices on products.
• Handle defective or merchandise fit for resale based on Company protocols.
• Stay informed about pricing details and be aware of where products are positioned in the store.
• Employ CGO systems and mobile terminals for inventory management and the reordering of products as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of markdowns, spoilage, and items used in-store as outlined by Company policies.
• Be diligent in following the prescribed rotation guidelines and regularly assess sell-by dates, especially for items that are perishable.
• Keep tabs on the organization, cleanliness, and preparedness of the grocery storage facility for the incoming shift.
• Move goods from trucks and ensure they are securely stored in designated areas by employing carts, U-boats, and jacks.
• Construct and arrange block and facial materials according to the standards established by the Company.
• Regularly review price tags and make updates when needed.
• Undertake the operation of balers, compactors, and hand jacks in a manner that prioritizes safety.
• Notify the Department Manager or Store Management as soon as possible about any equipment troubles.
• Adhere to the Company's guidelines for minimizing losses and maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Support the Department Manager by helping coordinate tasks and promoting team cohesion.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal guidelines pertaining to the operation of grocery operations.
• Adhere to the Company's standards for dress code and personal presentation, which encompass wearing the designated uniform and prominently displaying the name badge.
• Perform duties according to QA hand washing standards and always wear gloves when dealing with food.
• Engage in and complete all necessary department training courses.
• Uphold ShopRite's emphasis on Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency in the execution of all duties.
• Be on duty in the department for the entirety of the planned shift, even if it extends beyond 8 hours.
• Stay on time and attend regularly.
• Participate in additional work hours as designated.
• Participate actively in cooperative tasks with your fellow colleagues.
• Accomplish tasks outside the standard duties.

Qualifications of Grocery Sales Clerk:

• Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English proficiently.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to stand and walk for the entire duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried, or processed food products and spices without allergic reactions.
• Ability to tolerate cleaning agents and dust as part of routine duties.
• Ability to climb ladders to access overhead racking or storage areas.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and follow all scheduling and attendance policies.
