The Meat Cutter is responsible for expertly preparing meat products, ensuring quality, safety, and guest satisfaction in the meat department. This role involves cutting, grinding, trimming, and packaging meat while maintaining proper sanitation, inventory, and visual standards. The ideal candidate brings technical skill, product knowledge, and a strong commitment to teamwork and customer service.
Responsibilities of Meat Cutter:
Expertly cut, grind, wrap, and trim meat products according to established standards.
Provide leadership and support on the sales floor, ensuring safety and sanitation compliance.
Maintain quality and quantity standards, keeping service and self-service cases full.
Support team members and contribute positively to the culture of the meat department.
Enhance sales by ensuring products are visually appealing and properly displayed.
Reduce waste by following production lists, trim standards, and minimizing shrink.
Ensure meat products are properly packaged, labeled, and stored per company guidelines.
Assist in training Utility team members in cutting, grinding, sausage making, wrapping, and fulfilling special orders.
Maintain cleanliness and safety, including operation and sanitization of equipment.
Provide excellent guest service at the meat counter, handling special orders and inquiries.
Perform other duties as needed to support the team.
Maintain regular attendance and provide adequate notice for occasional absences.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience as a butcher or meat cutter in a grocery, retail, or meat production environment.
Strong customer focus and ability to deal tactfully with guests and staff.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of perishable foods, particularly meat products.
Must be over the age of 18.
