Produce Associate

Job Summary of Produce Associate:

In the role of a Produce Associate, your primary responsibilities involve enhancing the customer's shopping experience through tasks such as pricing, restocking, and arranging products within the Produce Department. Your duties will focus on upholding cleanliness, orderliness, and aesthetic appeal in the department to guarantee that the produce remains fresh, well-maintained, and attractively showcased. Additionally, you will contribute to the receiving of deliveries, adhere to food safety guidelines, and participate in the smooth running of departmental procedures, all while championing company campaigns and offering amiable assistance to patrons.

Responsibilities of Produce Associate:

• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Promote for sale any current charitable promotions to Customers.
• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, and restocking produce to ensure quality and freshness.
• Be knowledgeable in and able to differentiate between various types of produce, including taste, seasonality, use, and pricing differences.
• Keep display cases and other merchandising areas stocked, signed, and attractively arranged.
• Control freshness, quality, and temperature of products by following safe food handling practices.
• Handle spoiled or damaged products according to Company policy.
• Regularly lift, pull, push, and rotate merchandise that weighs 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
• Unload deliveries and transport merchandise to the Produce Department using appropriate equipment.
• Check refrigeration and storage areas for proper performance and report issues immediately.
• Utilize and maintain department equipment properly; report equipment problems promptly.
• Maintain sanitation standards by sweeping, mopping, and removing refuse as needed.
• Operate baler and compactor in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Dress and groom according to Company policy, including uniform, name badge, and hair restraint requirements.
• Use disposable gloves and follow QA hand washing standards when handling food.
• Perform all duties in accordance with Company rules, policies, safety requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Adhere to HAZCOM procedures and manufacturer guidelines for safe use of chemical products.
• Understand and follow all Country of Origin Label (C.O.O.L.) regulations for produce items.
• Understand and adhere to Company shrink guidelines for the Produce Department.
• Complete all applicable department training programs.
• Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
• Stand at assigned workstation for the duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Work overtime as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Produce Associate:

• Individuals must be at least 18 years of age to handle balers, forklifts, pallet jacks, and deli slicers.
• Proficiency in comprehending, analyzing, interpreting, and effectively communicating in the English language.
• Proficiency in carrying out fundamental mathematical operations.
• Capability to remain on foot and move throughout the entire assigned work period.
• Being able to maintain a standing position, bending, rotating, extending, applying force, dragging, and routinely raising 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds.
• Capability to operate in diverse temperature settings, such as chilled and humid conditions.
• Capacity to handle various types of fresh, dried, or processed goods, spices, and powders without experiencing any adverse reactions.
• Capacity to endure dust and cleaning solutions while performing regular household maintenance tasks.
• Capability to engage with clients in a pleasant and supportive manner.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with peers.
• Capacity to adhere to designated work schedules and follow established timekeeping regulations.
