Job Summary:
As a Grocery Manager, you will be responsible for leading the daily operations of the Grocery Department. You will ensure that shelves are fully stocked, merchandise is rotated properly, and the department maintains a clean and organized appearance. This role includes supervising, training, and scheduling Associates while delivering excellent customer service and ensuring adherence to company policies, safety standards, and merchandising goals.
Responsibilities:
- Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
- Supervise, train, and support all Grocery Department Associates.
- Assist with hiring and onboarding of new department Associates, including interviewing, selection, and training.
- Clearly communicate and consistently enforce department and company policies and procedures.
- Develop department schedules to meet labor and productivity goals.
- Ensure proper staffing levels to meet projected sales and customer service needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular ordering, receiving, and stocking of grocery merchandise.
- Oversee the unloading and placement of deliveries, ensuring proper product rotation and storage practices.
- Ensure department merchandising and signage aligns with company standards and promotional plans.
- Control department shrink through accurate inventory practices and proper handling of damaged/spoiled goods.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations as they pertain to grocery operations.
- Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe department environment.
- Monitor refrigeration and other equipment to ensure proper operation and report any issues immediately.
- Coordinate with store management and other departments to meet overall store goals.
- Address customer inquiries, issues, or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote current charitable campaigns and initiatives to customers and Associates.
- Utilize and maintain department equipment; report equipment issues as needed.
- Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
- Stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours per day.
- Regularly lift, push, pull, and rotate merchandise up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work overtime as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in grocery or retail environment preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, and interpret the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math and operate department equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, and pull for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions including refrigerated areas.
- Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies.
- Ability to interact with customers and team members in a professional and helpful manner.
