Responsibilities of Grocery Bakery Clerk:

• Aid the Bakery Manager with the organization of baking activities, packaging, pricing, and promotion of various baked products
• The primary duties of the Grocery Bakery Clerk consist of delivering exceptional customer care and ensuring the correct preparation, wrapping, and showcasing of Bakery products, all while maintaining the sanitation of the Bakery department
• In the position of Grocery Bakery Clerk, it is essential to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery environment and equipment. This includes activities such as cleaning shelves and products, ensuring spill-free floors, clearing hazardous debris from the area, and sweeping regularly
• Monitor stock quantities, restock shelves, present items conspicuously, and validate pricing precision by scrutinizing the quality of bakery merchandise and eliminating any expired or spoiled items
• Inspect and register products to confirm the exactness of the delivery, the temperature levels, and the grade

Qualifications of Grocery Bakery Clerk:

• Individuals applying must be at least 18 years old, have completed high school or an equivalent qualification, and possess 1-2 years of experience in a bakery setting, or a suitable balance of education and work history.

• Undertake general housekeeping tasks in the department, which involves cleaning and disinfecting work areas like tables, floors, walls, display cases, and refrigeration units.
• Be able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed. Uses knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
• The nature of the role requires individuals to stand for up to 3 hours non-stop, with a total of 8 hours per shift. Moreover, applicants must have the capability to lift trays weighing up to 5 lbs. and transfer them vertically within the range of 7 to 64 inches for a duration of up to 10 hours. They should also be able to transfer items weighing up to 40 lbs. both vertically and horizontally, within the range of 5 to 36 inches and covering a distance of up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without the aid of mechanical equipment.
• Abide by safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations in the process of acquiring and retaining a Food Handlers permit.
