Role and Responsibilities:

As a Meat Counter Attendant at Whole Foods Market, you will perform duties related to the cutting, preparation, display, and selling of meat products while ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to food safety standards. You will also support the team by mentoring others and promoting store initiatives.

• Process, present, and market different types of meat products like beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry for customers.
• Craft specialty meat provisions such as sausages, ready-to-cook options, and preserved meats.
• Guarantee that merchandise aligns with Whole Foods Market's quality standards.
• Supervise sampling campaigns to help prevent spoilage.
• Help and aid assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s) in their professional development.
• Offer excellent customer service, promptly cater to customer needs, and showcase successful upselling strategies.
• Optimize sales results by meticulously following prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising principles.
• Stay in accordance with health, sanitation, Weights and Measures, and safety requirements.
• Keep the work and shopping spaces clean and hygienic, and maintain equipment as specified.
• Perform opening, midday, and closing responsibilities, which involve ensuring the accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Immediate action is necessary to report safety hazards and violations.
• Carry out any other allocated responsibilities by store, regional, or national leadership.

Mandatory Credentials and Abilities:

• Seasoned in the retail field for over a year.
• Achieving success in the Whole Foods Market Butcher Apprentice Program, or a similar training initiative, is necessary for qualification (certain conditions may be waived in the UK).
• Understanding the operational framework and procedures of the meat team.
• Proficiency in cutting practices, specifically in the skill of segmenting products into sub-primal and retail cuts efficiently.
• Awareness of the features of a variety of fruits and vegetables and skillfulness in their proper storage, preparation, and cooking techniques.
• Ability to visually scrutinize products to determine their freshness and quality.
• Able to effectively communicate and collaborate within a team context.
• Ability to manage time effectively, exhibit strong organizational skills, and follow directions and procedures with precision.

• Skill in swiftly adapting to the demands of a fast-paced work environment and completing tasks promptly.

Compensation and Benefits:

Within a wage range of $18.50 to $30.20 per hour, dependent on experience and considering a 40-hour work week, lies the compensation for this position. Whole Foods Market introduces a comprehensive benefits package referred to as Whole Benefits, which might embody:
