Job Summary of Receiving Support Clerk:
Assisting the Receiving Manager, the Receiving Support Clerk contributes to the effective functioning of the receiving section. Responsibilities include receiving, examining, and arranging incoming parcels. The Receiving Support Clerk is responsible for ensuring the precise tallying, proper marking, and systematic storing of merchandise in assigned positions in accordance with company regulations.
Responsibilities of Receiving Support Clerk:
- Making customer satisfaction a top priority in service delivery.
- Illustrating integrity, accountability, and quality and following all policies.
- Aiding the receiving department manager in the accurate reception of all incoming products by conducting checks for dates, precision, and potential damage.
- Verifying all incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Optimizing the layout of items for seamless movement onto the sales floor.
- Punctual and precise management of purchase orders, RPOs, mispicks, invoices, and paperwork.
- Reviewing and rectifying all divergences uncovered.
- Collaborating with department heads to resolve delivery problems and vendor supply gaps.
- Tracking the status of individualized purchases.
- Carrying out forklift and pallet jack duties as instructed.
- It is imperative to maintain a clean and structured back room environment.
- Engaging with departmental leaders to tackle performance issues in the unit.
- Providing aid in the commencement and conclusion of store activities, encompassing responsibilities like preparing the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and overseeing cash management and the completion of cashier tasks.
- Performing duties related to managing register operations such as providing backup support for cashiers, processing customer refunds, resolving customer issues, and overseeing register shift transitions, which include covering breaks as needed.
- Safeguarding the security and safety of both clients and employees.
- Supporting in the education and surveillance of department personnel through task allocation and subsequent check-ins.
- Demonstrating initiative by providing supplementary assistance and reinforcement in the store, and backing up on the sales floor after completing receiving tasks.
- Responding to customer inquiries according to company policies and standards, potentially incorporating statements that emphasize the product's structure, function, or nutritional benefits.
- Constantly evolving product knowledge.
- Employing SAP and inventory management software for inventory control purposes, in addition to utilizing email and other necessary IS applications.
- The store requires employees to work a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. This full-time position involves committing to five days of work per week, totaling 40 hours, and attending mandatory store meetings.
- While this role involves some managerial tasks, it is not intended to be the primary manager on duty for the store.
Qualifications of Receiving Support Clerk:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
- 1 year of experience in grocery/retail or receiving environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
- 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
- Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
