Job Summary

You will helps to maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the US Foods strategy: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy, and must be passionate about service and model this behavior in all aspects of job performance. During a shift, you will be assigned to any of our departments, depending on our customer and/or business needs. At the direction of store management, you may work in any or all the following areas:

• Working at the front end of the store to sell items and assist customers with completing their purchases.
• My position requires me to assist customers in the Meat/Frozen area, Produce/Dairy area, and Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply area
• Restocking goods and rotating inventory in every department.
• Your help might be needed during special store events, which include Vendor Fairs, sales floor rearrangements, and inventory audits.

Duties And Responsibilities

Front End:

• Enhance the shopping experience at CHEF'STORE by developing and optimizing relationships with the store's customers. Utilize the skills and tools acquired through the CHEF'STORE Way training to emulate the desired behavior within the store.
• Conduct sales and monetary transactions efficiently and accurately on the point of sale system. Responsibilities include scanning items via a handheld scanner or 10-key pad, weighing products as needed, and troubleshooting any scanning issues that arise. Ensure the system correctly records each item's barcode and promptly report any inconsistencies to the Front End Lead or Manager of Day (MOD).
• Engage in the procedure of transferring all purchased products from the initial cart to a different one during the checkout process, and concurrently conduct a visual inspection to detect any potential tampering efforts.
• Ascertain that the items in the shopping cart match the items recorded on the receipt as part of the responsibilities of a receipt monitor when customers leave the store.
• Accomplish the tasks associated with store opening and closing responsibilities at the front end during the assigned shift.

Sales Floor And Stocking:

• Ensure a sustained focus on enhancing sales outcomes and effectively managing loss prevention. Support customers in their product search endeavors and introduce them to the diverse service options provided within the store setting.
• Offer help with receiving inventory shipments and keeping shelves stocked in a neat and orderly manner, ensuring correct rotation and conducting audits to maintain product quality. Inform store management of any shortages in stock inventory.
• Validate the labeling of all merchandise, such as utilizing a blaster for items that cannot be scanned, placing weight labels on products sold by the pound, and affixing PLU tags to fruits and vegetables.
• Daily replenishment of the sales floor involves moving products from the upper shelves to the lower shelves. Prioritize stocking the oldest items first in adherence to the FIFO system. Replace any empty slots with fresh products as needed. Employ reach trucks and pallet jacks for the seamless handling and stocking of merchandise.
• Utilize applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel on the computer, as well as any proprietary software that may be necessary.
• Maintain easy access, appealing visuals, and continuous availability of all products.
• Assist with implementing price changes as directed by the Pricing Manager and Store Management.
• Aid in the initial and final duties vital for the store's overall management.
• Join in the inventory and cycle count process as necessary.

Customer Courtesy:

• Follow safety policies and maintain the facility to provide a safe setting for both staff and customers. Alert store management about any safety concerns in the store and address them whenever possible.
• Keep the sales area, front end, and restroom facilities clean with the aid of cleaning tools.
• Ensure that the store entry area and parking lot are kept in a clean and orderly condition.
• Retrieve carts from various locations around the parking lot and cart stations, then return them to the designated area, ensuring they are in clean and working condition.

Relationships:

• It is essential for the individual in this role to engage with employees at every level of the organization.
• Customer interaction and engagement with external service and product providers are mandatory aspects of the role.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a retail store setting, open to the public. While performing the duties of this job, exposure to outside weather conditions which can include inclement weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is typically performed on a level surface however the use of a ladder or working on an elevated surface may be required as needed. Temperature varies throughout the store ranging from -10 to 85 degrees. Required to physically interact with customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proficiency in cashiering and stocking duties within a retail setting for a minimum of six months to one year is an essential requirement.
• Candidates are encouraged to have a minimum of one year of experience in retail sales and/or customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Having a strong desire and aptitude for delivering exceptional customer service, as well as the flexibility to help out other staff members, is imperative.
• Guarantee all customers receive hasty, seamless, proficient, and polished support.
• An individual must possess solid common sense, logical thinking skills, and a basic aptitude for mathematics.
• It is important to show self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to multitask efficiently, whether working alone or as part of a group.
• The position necessitates having the availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Required qualifications include familiarity with computer basics, cash handling expertise, and adeptness in general office equipment operation.
• Equivalent work experience is accepted in place of a high school diploma for this position.

• The utilization of items like a hand truck, boxes, cartons, or a steering wheel necessitates the effective manipulation and control by our hands to achieve smooth and efficient functioning
• Moving Equipment: Packages, wheeled dolly, loading platform, handcart, documents, truck door, securing mechanisms
• Skilled in manual activities like typing and operating office tools such as copiers and printers is important
