Job Summary of Grocery Team Member:

In the role of a Grocery Team Member, your focus is on ensuring customer satisfaction by contributing to the pricing, stocking, facing, and rotation of products in the Grocery Department. Your duties involve sustaining a clean, secure, and well-organized workspace, managing inventory levels effectively, and complying with company policies and safety regulations to bolster the department's overall productivity.

Responsibilities of Grocery Team Member:

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces and equipment according to sanitation and QA standards.
• Keep floors clear of spills, debris, and obstructions.
• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Observe all safety procedures when using equipment.
• Keep shelves and displays fully stocked, faced, and attractively arranged at all times.
• Ensure sale merchandise is properly signed to promote sales.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, and price marking products.
• Handle damaged or return-to-stock merchandise according to Company policy.
• Check prices and be knowledgeable about product locations throughout the store.
• Utilize CGO and handheld terminals to maintain inventory and reorder products as needed.
• Accurately record markdowns, spoilage, and in-store use according to Company policies.
• Follow proper rotation procedures and monitor sell-by dates, especially for perishables.
• Monitor the Grocery storage area for organization, cleanliness, and readiness for the next shift.
• Unload trucks and secure products in designated storage using carts, U-boats, and jacks.
• Block and face products according to Company standards.
• Maintain price tags and perform price changes when necessary.
• Operate equipment such as balers, compactors, and hand jacks in a safe manner.
• Report equipment issues immediately to the Department Manager or Store Management.
• Understand and adhere to Company shrink guidelines and inventory controls.
• Assist the Department Manager with daily tasks and team coordination.
• Follow all Local, State, and Federal regulations related to grocery operations.
• Dress and groom according to Company policy, including uniform and name badge.
• Perform duties in accordance with QA hand washing standards and use gloves when handling food.
• Complete all applicable department training programs.
• Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities: Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
• Stand in the department for the duration of the scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Work overtime as assigned.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Grocery Team Member:

• Individuals must meet the age requirement of 18 years or older to handle balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
• Proficiency in English involves the capability to read, write, and speak fluently while also being able to analyze and understand the language thoroughly.
• Skill in carrying out rudimentary math calculations.
• Required to stand and walk continuously during the assigned work hours.
• Proficiency in flexing, rotating, extending, pressing, pulling, and consistently picking up 25 pounds, and on occasion, hoisting up to 60 pounds.
• Having the skill to engage with different food products, whether fresh, dried, or processed, as well as spices, without suffering from allergies.
• Tolerance for the presence of cleaning agents and dust while executing routine cleaning duties.
• Skill in scaling ladders to reach overhead racking or storage zones.
• Proficiency in interacting with patrons in a welcoming and supportive fashion.
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and follow all scheduling and attendance policies.
