Job Summary of Bakery Department Manager:
To efficiently oversee and manage the operations of the Bakery Department and its staff to meet the department's objectives such as sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee morale following the guidance of the Bakery Department Manager in alignment with our mission and service principles.
Qualifications of Bakery Department Manager:
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift. Ability to perform basic computer functions.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 60 lbs.
- Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences. Ability to work in varying temperatures.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking and storage areas.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies. Ability to engage and lead Associates to achieve department goals.
Responsibilities of Bakery Department Manager:
- Performing all tasks while adhering to company policies, local, state, and federal laws, and safety regulations is crucial, particularly in ensuring food safety and compliance. It is imperative to comply with all relevant environmental, health, safety, and security protocols set forth by the organization and governing bodies.
- Adhere to all guidelines outlined in the HAACP and Food Handling protocols when carrying out responsibilities.
- Follow the guidelines outlined in the Company's HAZCOM program and comply with the recommended usage instructions provided by the manufacturers when handling chemical products.
- Adhere to Department QA standards by ensuring the work environment is tidy, orderly, and secure. It is essential to communicate effectively and uphold safety regulations set by the department and the company without fail.
- Monitor the correct utilization of all tools by team members, which includes Personal Protective Gear.
- Comprehend and follow protocols during emergencies. Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and report any malfunctions promptly to Store Management.
- It is a requirement for individuals using power equipment like balers, hi-lo, and slicing machines to be at least 18 years old.
- Regularly handle and manipulate items weighing 25 lbs., with occasional items reaching up to 60 lbs.
- Transfer goods from trucks to the Bakery Department, handling items weighing 25 lbs regularly and occasionally dealing with those weighing 60 lbs. Keep track of temperature records and production documents.
- Establish and oversee a comprehensive cleaning maintenance timetable for the entire department.
- Attain and uphold a Food Safety Certification acknowledged by the Company through successful training completion.
- Extend a warm welcome to all customers and offer them quick and polite service and support.
- Support the integration of recently hired department staff members, including conducting interviews, making selections, and providing training, while following Company guidelines and complying with all labor laws.
- Foster fluid communication and collaborate effectively with all business associates.
- Guide team members to collaborate effectively while fostering passion, commitment, and innovation. Test out fresh products and popular seasonal selections to generate Customer curiosity and drive.
- Motivate and acknowledge employees to deliver a satisfying Customer Interaction.
- Demonstrate a professional image and serve as a good example to fellow employees in the section according to the Dress Code Policy of the Company. Keep track of and update Unit Price Labels for every product. Supervise the cleanliness and organization of the Bakery storage space to prepare for the upcoming shift activities such as preparing bales, handling reclamation, plastic, and pallets.
- Make sure all products are adequately replenished and regularly repositioned in cabinets, racks, and relevant showcases following the assigned tags and guidelines of each department.
- Make sure all items are arranged and displayed as per the guidelines of the Company or as directed. Ensure that promotional items are labeled correctly following the standards set by the Company and regulations. Proficiency in utilizing necessary software and up-to-date technology related to Bakery Operations is essential. Authenticate that invoices match the products received accurately.
- Guarantee that all documentation and files are precise, thorough, and stored following the guidelines set by the organization.
- Verify the quality of all incoming products and store them securely in designated storage locations.
- Verify the correctness of pricing for items, the effectiveness of item location systems, and the assignment of items to appropriate shelves. Also, ensure that procedures for reclaiming or returning products to stock are adhered to in compliance with Company guidelines.
- Guarantee that the pricing protocols within the physical store adhere to the policies set by the Company.
- Comprehend and comply with regulations at the local, state, and federal levels regarding Bakery Operations.
- Comprehend the significance of department finances and make necessary operational adjustments to meet objectives. Comprehend and comply with Company's guidelines on reducing losses regarding Bakery Operations.
- Ensure effective communication and uniform implementation of department and Company regulations.
- Ensure adequate workforce levels are maintained to align with anticipated sales and customer service demands.
- Attend and complete all department training sessions as required. Be present and on time for work consistently, and be willing to work extra hours when necessary. Follow all rules and guidelines set forth by the Local, State, and Federal Department of Labor pertaining to underage employees.
- Offer support as required in the planning of food items, catering, and custom requests. Undertake additional responsibilities as designated.
