Responsibilities of Retail Grocery Manager:

• Ensure proper handling of products, regularly rotate stock to preserve freshness, and consistently monitor expiration dates
• Maintain cost efficiency through ongoing surveillance and enhancement of operations to enhance profitability, oversee workforce expenditures, and lessen losses resulting from shrinkage, impairment, and theft
• Assist in getting the store ready for the physical inventory check
• Manage the unloading process of trucks at our distribution centers, ensuring that all deliveries are accurately compared with invoices, documenting any deficiencies or excesses, and notifying the appropriate supplier accordingly
• Handle the process of placing orders, ensuring adherence to rules, maintaining hygiene standards, managing back-room stock, and overseeing departmental safety
• Actively engage with team members by providing coaching, feedback, and personalized development dialogues, while also offering recommendations for merit raises during the bi-yearly performance review process.
• Attend and actively take part in in-person store meetings on a regular basis.
• Work together with the Store Manager on recruitment, hiring, and decisions regarding promotions and transfers.
• Show the capability to independently assess and manage concerns brought up by team members.
• Institute corrective procedures and document them when required, which might entail partnering with business and human resources associates to handle performance matters by offering coaching, advice, escalating disciplinary actions, temporary suspension, or termination if warranted.
• Enhance productivity and efficiency by organizing and adapting schedules and staffing numbers.
• Share criteria, anticipated results, updates in regulations, and familiarity with products with team members.
• Head a team that works collaboratively to ensure the delivery of superior products, top-tier service, and an unparalleled customer experience.
• Take on the responsibilities of a Key Carrier at the store and serve as the Manager on Duty if necessary.

Qualifications of Retail Grocery Manager:

• Be at least 18 years of age and possess 1 year managerial or supervisory experience which includes responsibility for managing a department/team within a multi-department operation within the retail, hospitality, or service industry
• Have strong good communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to take and give direction, participating in a team environment
• Have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers
• Possess a proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff, while possessing a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals
• Have a strong focus on detail, analytical and problem solving skills
• Have and maintain Food Safety certification. Also ensure that all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, food safety, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met
• Have strong organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
• Must vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs., from 9 to 62, for up to 25 hours
• Must vertically/horizontally transfer boxes weighing up to 50 lbs., from 5 to 34, for a distance up to 5 feet for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance
• Repetitive squatting/kneeling/bending to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours is expected
• Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Have and show outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
