Staff Accountant
Job Summary of Staff Accountant:
This on-site position, based at Weis Markets’ Store Support Center, with potential for a hybrid work schedule, plays a key role in supporting the accounting and finance functions. The role includes preparing journal entries, financial reports, and reconciliations, while collaborating with internal teams and external auditors to ensure accurate financial documentation and compliance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Staff Accountant:
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for review and approval by the Accounting Manager.
- Generate internal and external reports to support financial disclosures and business needs.
- Assist with system implementations and testing initiatives.
- Conduct analysis to support quarterly and annual reviews for management and auditors.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procedure documentation for assigned responsibilities.
- Communicate with vendors and associates to resolve discrepancies and answer accounting-related inquiries.
- Investigate financial variances, recommend resolutions, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Prepare and distribute various operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Participate in cross-training and company-wide accounting projects as assigned.
- Develop financial reporting tools to support internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience of Staff Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
