Job Summary of Patient Care Intern:

In this role, third-year pharmacy students can develop practical experience by helping pharmacists and the pharmacy team with patient care and pharmacy service delivery. The intern will assist in processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and providing customer support, all while adhering to state and federal regulations under pharmacist supervision.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Patient Care Intern:

• Help the pharmacist and pharmacy group maintain high standards of patient care and pharmacy offerings while following state, federal, and company guidelines.
• Provide support for handling prescription requests using specialized pharmacy software, encompassing activities such as order entry, validation, and medication dispensation.
• Provide counseling and support to patients in relation to immunizations and the supervision of medication treatment within the boundaries of pharmacy intern responsibilities.
• Oversee communication received via phone that does not pertain to pharmacists, such as liaising with medical persoel.
• Aid in overseeing pharmacy inventory duties including procurement, unpacking, inventory checks, and replenishing pharmaceutical products.
• Ensure the pharmacy space is clean, orderly, and fully stocked.
• Keep track of sales, complete transactions, and support customers with OTC product inquiries.
• Ensure top-notch customer care through active communication with individuals and addressing their problems in a professional way.
• Follow all corporate regulations and encourage a harmonious work environment with peers.
• Carry out unique assignments and projects given by the pharmacist.

Qualifications and Experience of Patient Care Intern:

• Currently enrolled in a pharmacy school program that is accredited.
• Possessing a Pharmacy Intern license that is valid and upheld by the state board of pharmacy.
• Skill in providing vaccinations.
• Readiness to work varied schedules, which may include weekends and evenings.
• Demonstrating impressive people skills and a talent for creating rapport while ensuring top-notch customer service.
