Job Summary of Grocery Stocker:
Grocery Stocker are tasked with maintaining the stocked and organized appearance of the grocery department's shelves and displays to meet customer needs and expectations effectively. Additionally, they offer helpful and prompt assistance to customers in finding products.
Responsibilities of Grocery Stocker:
- Assist with unloading, stocking, and organizing grocery items on shelves and displays.
- Transport stock for storage to the sales floor.
- Open cartons and price items (if needed) accurately and according to company guidelines.
- Keep store shelves fully stocked and organized according to tag allocations.
- Assist in building store displays, end displays, wing displays, and wall of value displays.
- Keep perishable merchandise rotated and pull out-of-code product as needed.
- Control level of damaged goods by properly handling merchandise.
- Properly present assigned section prior to leaving at the end of scheduled work shift and check out with the manager in charge.
- Observe policies and procedures established for each department.
- Greet customers who come into the store and be observant while on the sales floor.
- Maintain a neat appearance according to the company's dress code policy.
- Abid by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintenance of price and protection program.
- Housekeeping of sales and back room areas.
- Assist with front-end service when needed.
- Retrieve carts and safely place them at the front of the store, as needed.
Qualifications of Grocery Stocker:
- The capacity to comprehend written information and compose it accurately for the purpose of labeling goods, managing inventory effectively, and guaranteeing the proper turnover of items.
- Capacity to remove, carry, and position goods in designated locations.
- Capable of lifting weights of up to 70 pounds for a minimum of 40% of the time required.
- It is essential to be capable of accessing and organizing products on the upper shelves in the supermarket aisles to ensure they are stored correctly. The task of placing items on the higher racks might constitute around 20% of the work time spent in the aisles during the shift.
- Capacity to comply with written and spoken directives.
- Being required to remain in an upright position for the majority of your designated work hours is necessary.
