Role and Responsibilities:
As a Merchandise Associate, you will provide quality customer service while maintaining high merchandising standards in the Center Store (Grocery) Department. You will help maximize sales and minimize shrink through proper inventory management and adherence to company standards.
Maintain enthusiastic customer awareness by delivering fast, friendly, and accurate service.
Be courteous and helpful to fellow associates.
Keep Specialty Merchandise product levels according to standard practice, controlling backroom inventory and shelf conditions.
Maintain shelf allocations as outlined in plan-o-grams.
Ensure timely stocking of new items and tags within one week of receipt, following plan-o-grams for placement.
Manage ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise per company policies.
Use company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering system (CAO).
Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines; observe and correct unsafe conditions.
Report all associate and customer accidents according to Food Lion procedures.
Wear the Food Lion uniform and adhere to dress code standards.
Complete required computer-based and other training courses.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements.
Effective problem-solving using technical information.
Must meet minimum age requirements for the role.
Capable of meeting physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.
Proficient in using computers and communication systems needed for job functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with inventory management systems and grocery retail operations.
Previous customer service or merchandise stocking experience.
