Job Summary of Grocery Manager:

This role at Weis Markets will oversee all aspects of the grocery department, ensuring smooth operations and delivering excellent customer service. In this role, you will manage inventory, supervise associates, and work closely with store management to maintain high standards and meet sales objectives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Grocery Manager:

• Oversee all aspects of Grocery department operations and assume responsibility for total store operations in the absence of store management.
• Promote excellent customer relations by instilling positive, customer-focused behavior with associates and resolving customer concerns promptly.
• Manage inventory levels, ensuring products meet customer demand and maintaining backroom organization according to Weis Markets guidelines.
• Schedule all grocery associates, oversee training, provide coaching and feedback, and evaluate performance. Also, plan and schedule overnight shift workloads, if applicable.
• Assist with onboarding new grocery associates and participate in annual performance reviews using the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Develop and implement merchandising plans, communicate with other departments to create attractive displays, and attend daily store huddles.
• Ensure the department follows cleaning schedules, maintains health and safety standards, and properly disposes of trash in accordance with guidelines.
• Control expenses including payroll within budgeted expectations and minimize losses due to damages or shrinkage.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and storing inventory as needed, operating powered or hand jacks after proper training.
• Ensure the use of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and assist with related duties such as baling cardboard, if trained.

Qualifications and Experience of Grocery Manager:

• Working towards or completed a high school diploma or GED. Associate or Bachelor's degree in a business-related field is desirable.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail or supermarket management.
