Facilities Maintenance Clerk

Job Summary of Facilities Maintenance Clerk:

As a Facilities Maintenance Clerk at ShopRite, you will help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both customers and team members. You will be responsible for to perform maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the store as presented by Store Management to ensure that the store premises and fixtures are kept clean and sanitary, including restrooms, common areas, and floors. You will also assist in collecting carts, managing waste and recycling, and maintaining equipment according to safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities of Facilities Maintenance Clerk:

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe store environment at all times.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including all plumbing fixtures.
• Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, or vacuuming as assigned.
• Clean Associate breakrooms and other common areas as required.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies; notify management when inventory is low.
• Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the store and dispose of waste properly.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and follow all safety protocols.
• Collect shopping carts from the parking lot and return them to the designated areas inside the store.
• Secure auxiliary doors when accessing exterior areas for cleaning or trash removal.
• Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately to store management.
• Support other departments with maintenance-related tasks as assigned.
• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Observe safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper chemical handling.
• Follow all store rules, policies, and procedures, including uniform and grooming standards.
• Perform duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Facilities Maintenance Clerk:

• Only individuals who have reached the age of 18 are authorized to operate compactors, hydraulic lifts, electric pallet jacks, and professional floor scrubbing equipment.
• The proficiency in English requires the skillset of reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding the language efficiently.
• Skill in carrying out rudimentary math functions.
• Capability to stay on foot and in motion for the duration of a planned working timeframe.
• Expertise in bending, rotating, stretching, moving, pulling, and regularly holding 25 lbs., with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to tolerate dust, cleaning agents, and various temperature conditions.
• Capability to manage cleaning chemicals and adhere to safety protocols unfailingly.
• Proficiency in connecting with customers in a genial and useful way.
• Performing well in a group setting and carrying out tasks as directed by management.
• Capability to operate during allocated work hours and adhere to punctuality standards.
