Meat Seafood Manager

Role and Responsibilities:

• Service
  • Create a welcoming environment where customers feel confident in product quality and service.
  • Ensure merchandising compliance with planners, toolkits, and event packs.
  • Deliver daily standards for product freshness, value, and availability.
  • Train associates in trimming, labeling, case presentation, and freshness standards.
  • Fulfill special orders and recommend products that meet customer needs.
• Leadership
  • Promote teamwork, trust, and respect while leading by example.
  • Set and monitor goals for sales, merchandising, and profitability.
  • Hire, coach, and develop meat cutters and associates; conduct reviews and provide feedback.
  • Manage scheduling to ensure peak-hour readiness and high service levels.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for meat and seafood standards, trim specifications, tray weights, and cutting practices.
• Financial & Operational Management
  • Oversee administrative tasks such as pricing, ordering, scheduling, communications, and training.
  • Monitor inventory, inspect products for quality and freshness, and address spoilage or poor quality.
  • Use production planning tools to forecast demand, minimize waste, and control shrink.
  • Maintain accurate temperature logs and ensure proper storage, wrapping, and labeling.
• Compliance & Safety
  • Adhere to USDA, state, and local regulations, including Country of Origin Labeling (COOL).
  • Execute product recalls and withdrawals accurately and promptly.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure associates follow safety standards, use PPE, and comply with company policies and wage/hour regulations.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–6 years supervisory experience, preferably in meat and seafood or related retail operations.
• Must be at least 18 years of age with legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to work effectively in fast-paced situations.
• Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling techniques with suitable knife handling and speed.
• Proficiency with department computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent coursework.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.

Compensation and Benefits:

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 70 lbs.
• Frequent use of knives, slicers, grinders, saws, and other equipment.
• Exposure to cold, humid, and wet environments including coolers and freezers.
• Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule Details:

Varied shifts including evenings, with three to four prime-time evening shifts per week. This is a working management position that involves physical labor, leadership, coaching, and administrative tasks.
