This position is responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations, ensuring the accuracy of prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service. The individual will supervise pharmacy technicians, manage inventory, and work to grow the pharmacy business through clinical programs. The role includes taking leadership in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Pharmacist:
Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Support business growth by recommending clinical programs such as immunization and Medication Therapy Management (MTM), and other ongoing programs as identified.
Align performance objectives to measurable department metrics for effectiveness and efficiency.
Work with the pharmacy manager on controlling inventories by tracking weekly sales and ordering pharmaceutical stock to meet customer demand and maximize profits.
Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with medical-related issues and offering healthcare counseling.
Supervise the work of pharmacy technicians and support staff, assisting the Pharmacy Manager with training, coaching, and managing pharmacy associates.
Assume management responsibilities for the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
Ensure open communication with operations and pharmacy management to support the success of the pharmacy.
Maintain appropriate security of the pharmacy department and comply with all federal and state laws and regulations.
Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints, and questions to build trust and loyalty.
Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gather information and resolve issues related to prescriptions.
Assist in maintaining the pharmacy department, ensuring cleanliness and order, and help with ongoing training and development of department personnel.
Prioritize and complete tasks related to inventory management, cycle counts, and customer will-calls in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Experience of Pharmacist:
Bachelor's degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy.
Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).
