Job Summary of Produce Worker:

As a Produce Worker, you will provide an excellent customer experience by pricing, stocking, and rotating items in the Produce Department. You will keep the department clean, organized, and visually appealing, ensuring that produce is fresh, handled properly, and exhibited well. You will also help with deliveries, adhere to food safety guidelines, and support department operations while promoting company initiatives and offering polite customer service.

Responsibilities of Produce Worker:

• Extend a warm welcome to all customers and promptly assist them with courteous service and help.
• Advocate for customers to participate in current promotions that benefit charity.
• Keep the work area well-maintained, structured, and secure for efficient operations.
• Follow accepted methodologies for receiving, putting expiration dates, storing, and restocking produce to protect their quality and freshness.
• Possess the skills to differentiate and identify various produce options, knowing their individual taste characteristics, seasonal cycles, culinary suitability, and differences in pricing.
• Maintain the attractive arrangement and stocking of merchandise in display cases and other sales areas.
• Ensure product freshness, quality, and temperature control through the practice of safe food handling techniques.
• Enforce the Company's policies regarding the proper course of action for spoiled or defective merchandise.
• Systematically engage in the lifting, pushing, pulling, and rotating of items weighing 25 lbs, occasionally up to 60 lbs.
• Use proper equipment to handle deliveries and transport merchandise to the Produce Department.
• Inspect refrigeration and storage zones regularly to maintain their efficiency and communicate any performance issues promptly.
• Appropriately use and care for department equipment while quickly informing of any equipment complications.
• Abide by cleanliness regulations through duties like sweeping, mopping, and discarding garbage as needed.
• Adhere to safety standards while utilizing the baler and compactor.
• Follow the Company's policies on attire and grooming, ensuring to wear the appropriate uniform, display the provided name badge, and adhere to the guidelines for hair restraint.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance hand washing standards and wear disposable gloves when handling food items.
• Execute tasks while adhering to Company guidelines, policies, safety measures, and the stipulated local, state, and federal regulations.
• To ensure safety when using chemical products, it is essential to follow the HAZCOM procedures and adhere to the manufacturer's guidelines.
• Make sure to comply with the established standards for Country of Origin Label (C.O.O.L.) when labeling produce items.
• Follow the prescribed protocols by the Company to control shrink in the Produce Department.
• Successfully finish all departmental training activities.
• Conduct all obligations based on ShopRite's Service Priorities (Safety, Courtesy, Display, and Productivity).
• Maintain your presence at the specified work area for the duration of the scheduled shift, which might be longer than 8 hours.
• It is important to be punctual and attend regularly.
• Be willing to stay late when necessary.
• Coordinate efforts collectively with others.
• Accomplish further responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications of Produce Worker:

• Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines.
• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and high-moisture environments.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices, and powdered substances without negative effects.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
