Fulfillment Operations Team Leader

Job Summary:

The Team Leader plays a key role in driving operational excellence, ensuring a seamless guest experience, and leading a team focused on accuracy, efficiency, and productivity. This role oversees daily fulfillment operations—including picking, packing, sorting, shipping, and guest pickup services—to ensure guests receive their items how and when they want them. As a leader, you will coach, develop, and motivate team members while supporting overall store profitability and Target’s commitment to an inclusive, safe, and service-driven environment.

Role Overview:

As a Fulfillment Operations Team Leader, you will guide the fulfillment team to deliver fast, accurate, and efficient product flow. You will manage workload planning, oversee the execution of operational best practices, ensure successful order fulfillment, and uphold guest service standards. You will also play a key role in staffing, developing talent, improving processes, and maintaining a safe and secure work environment.

Roles and Duties:

• Lead fulfillment operations to ensure orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.
• Promote a strong guest-first service culture through modeling, coaching, and training.
• Use workload tools to plan daily/weekly tasks and ensure fulfillment goals are achieved.
• Review fulfillment reporting, identify performance gaps, and create improvement plans.
• Create daily task plans and assign responsibilities to team members.
• Serve as an operations expert, ensuring process accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
• Lead pickup and ship-from-store activities to support fast and convenient guest services.
• Recruit, interview, evaluate, and develop team members to strengthen talent and culture.
• Establish and monitor goals around quality, speed, accuracy, and guest satisfaction.
• Identify and address training gaps through coaching and ongoing development.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are organized, stocked, and properly maintained.
• Follow safety and security policies as a key carrier (if applicable).
• Model ethical behavior, safety practices, and compliance with all policies and laws.
• Support storewide emergency procedures, operations, and compliance needs.
• Back up key store services including cashiering, Order Pickup (OPU), and Drive Up (DU).
• Engage guests with a welcoming attitude, solving their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to access all areas of the store to respond to guest or team needs.
• Climb ladders, move merchandise efficiently, and lift items up to 44 lbs. independently.
• Team-lift items weighing 45–100 lbs. as needed.
• Operate handheld scanners, register equipment, and communication devices.
• Work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous retail or fulfillment experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload, and work independently or as part of a team.
• A welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
