Job Summary of Food Service Attendant:
Dedicated to providing exceptional customer experiences by delivering attentive, friendly, and well-informed service, addressing customer queries and suggesting product options through upselling; assisting the Food Service Manager in the daily operations within the Food Service department; ensuring a clean, organized, and visually appealing department with a focus on product preparation and safe handling; performing additional tasks as needed efficiently and safely, in adherence to Company policies.
Qualifications of Food Service Attendant:
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures. Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.
- Ability to tolerate dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to operate all equipment customarily used by the Food Service Department and other equipment as may be required. Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
Responsibilities of Food Service Attendant:
- Keep the work area clean, well-organized, and free from hazards by sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces according to the Department of Sanitation and QA requirements.
- Keep the floor tidy by clearing away any debris or spills. Welcome and attend to customers promptly and courteously. Present any current charitable promotions to customers to stimulate interest and involvement.
- Maintain the quality of shelves, cases, and displays by regularly stocking, cleaning, straightening, and rotating items.
- Adhere to the Company's set standards and recipes to prepare a range of items, including salads, sandwiches, chicken dishes, pizza, and pasta, as well as catering orders.
- Check that the right temperatures are being maintained in the display cases, steam tables, while products are being heated and cooled, and in all storage spaces.
- Implement endorsed protocols for accepting and stockpiling merchandise to secure its integrity and support efficient product circulation. Manage flawed or non-viable goods based on Company procedures.
- Display signs on products to keep customers informed about choices and ingredients. Adhere to department standards by using and preserving equipment as needed, and alert management of any equipment issues promptly.
- Adhere to the Local, State, and Federal regulations relevant to the Food Service operation while completing all assigned duties.
- Carry out all tasks in alignment with Company policies, rules, safety protocols, and security standards, while also abiding by health and civil code regulations stipulated by Local, State, and Federal laws.
- Perform operations using the appropriate tools for the department, such as slicer, scale, can opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryolator, cheese grater/cutter, case cutter, and stove/oven.
- Observe official guidelines when accepting deliveries, date stamping, readying, storing, and labeling products with prices, arranging, and replenishing stock to ensure quality, precision, rotation, and safeguarding.
- Follow Company protocol by dressing and grooming in accordance with the stipulated policies, which encompass wearing the assigned uniform, displaying a name badge, and adhering to guidelines for headgear or hair control.
- Perform duties in accordance with QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food. Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate equipment and merchandise that weights 25 lbs. and occasionally weights up to 60 lbs.
- Transport merchandise from trucks to the Food Service Department, each weighing 25 lbs.
- At times, it comes in at a hefty 60 pounds.
- Maintain a presence in the Food Service Department for the entire scheduled shift, which might go beyond 8 hours per day. Grasp and conform to the Company's policies regarding shrinkage in Food Service operations.
- Execute duties in compliance with the Company's HAZCOM scheme and adhere to the instructions provided on chemical products' labels by the manufacturer to ensure safety and proper use.
- Take part in the complete set of department-specific training programs. Fulfill all obligations while upholding the ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Amicability, Aesthetics, and Productivity).
- Adhere to the schedule and show up for work regularly. Be willing to work overtime when needed. Foster a cooperative environment with colleagues. Personnel must meet the age requirement to handle various equipment. Execute additional tasks as delegated.
