Job Summary of Convenience Store Clerk:

Reporting directly to the store manager and indirectly to the assistant store managers and shift leaders, the Convenience Store Clerk plays a vital role in handling tasks like cashier duties, restocking inventory, cleaning duties, and monitoring perishable items. Delivering exceptional customer service and aiding in the maintenance of the store's daily operations are core responsibilities of the store clerk position. Adherence to company policies and procedures is essential for the store clerk to successfully carry out their job duties.

Responsibilities of Convenience Store Clerk:

• Proficiently handles a cash register and carries out checkout processes with a high level of competency, meeting or exceeding the established performance standards. This includes achieving the minimum transaction time per item and accurately processing various payment methods including cash, EBT, debit cards, credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
• Abides by the check-out and cash handling procedures and policies in place.
• Demonstrates a track record of meeting or surpassing the designated benchmarks related to the management, stocking, and preservation of grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and perishable merchandise.
• Offers assistance with the removal of items from delivery trucks.
• Organizes products on platforms, shelving units, peg hooks, or in baskets, and refrigerated displays as requested.
• Uses both powered and non-powered machinery and manual hand tools for shifting inventory upon completion of necessary training.
• Retrieves shopping carts from the parking zone.
• Keeps the store conditions at an optimal level.
• Works to maintain a safe and hygienic workspace.
• Performs cleaning tasks as delegated, covering floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register area, backroom, restrooms, parking lot, and other necessary fixtures.
• Provides outstanding customer care, which encompasses friendly and courteous interaction.
• Assists in the training of store team members under the guidance of store management.
• Manages the orderly arrangement of items based on their freshness indicators.
• Validates the presence of price labels and proper display of products following the guidelines established by the company.
• Protects the property, funds, and merchandise owned by the business.
• Correctly showcases, slices, seals, and stocks permitted natural crops.
• Aids in training new recruits as requested.
• Executes additional assignments, like assisting in various store divisions as designated.

Qualification of Convenience Store Clerk:

• Participants must have reached the age of 18 or above.
• It is advantageous to have completed high school or attained an equivalent credential for this role.
• Proven effectiveness in retail sales; background in dry grocery, perishables, meat, general merchandise, cash control, and superior customer interactions highly valued.
• Impressive group coordination and proficiency in addressing issues.
• English language skills in reading, writing, and speaking are a prerequisite.
• Demonstrate competency in both spoken and written communication, showcasing strong interpersonal skills.
• Adequate proficiency in elementary math operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is mandatory, in addition to basic computer abilities.
• Dependability and versatility are key factors in being able to adhere to designated work hours and being willing to support other store departments at short notice.
• Adherence to safety standards is mandatory.
• Conformity to a set dress standard is mandatory.

Physical Requirements of Convenience Store Clerk:

• The role requires the skill to handle, stretch, adjust, and carry diverse materials weighing 20-50 pounds repeatedly while on duty; on occasion, the weight of products could be as high as 50-80 pounds.
• Ability to stay upright, ambulate, or engage in movement for extended time frames is necessary.
• Proficiency in pushing, pulling, gripping, twisting, and utilizing sawing movements is essential for this role over prolonged periods.
• Regularly carries out tasks within refrigeration units, cold storage facilities, and delivery trucks, facing diverse weather conditions indoors and outdoors.
