Produce Handler

Job Summary of Produce Handler:

The duty of a Produce Handler is to maintain the department's quality, freshness, safety, and visual appeal consistently, assist customers, stock and prepare products, and ensure a positive shopping experience in line with Hannaford's dedication to excellent service and fresh food standards.

Responsibilities of Produce Handler:

• Welcome and help customers with product location and selection.
• Follow established guidelines while performing allocated stocking, discarding, and alternating tasks.
• Follow protocols and standards for packaging, cutting, scaling, and wrapping products as per quality goals.
• Execute specified cleaning duties to uphold sanitation requirements and food safety measures.
• Support departmental objectives by upholding top-notch product quality standards.
• Exceed the productivity thresholds specified in the Management Planning directives.
• Develop expertise in multiple product categories within the produce department.
• Encourage positive customer feedback by delivering friendly, helpful, and attentive assistance.
• Contribute to the education of fresh team members as needed.
• Adhere to directions from supervisors to carry out extra tasks and responsibilities.

• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements of Produce Handler:

• Carry loads of up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Remain vertical and on the move consistently.
• Repeatedly bowing, extending, holding, and raising items at or above the waist region.
• Elevate objects weighing up to 30 lbs to shoulder level or beyond during lifting tasks.
• Fulfill duties in cold atmospheres for intervals not exceeding 20 minutes.
• Utilize manual dexterity for dealing with produce, equipment, wrapping, and sanitation supplies.
• Being comfortable with food and cleaning materials is integral to performing the duties of this role.
• Maintain the expected levels of activity and volume as per department standards.
