Seafood Clerk

As a Seafood Clerk (Perishable Representative) at H-E-B, you will be responsible for maintaining a well-stocked and well-presented department while delivering superior customer service. You will prepare, package, and merchandise fresh seafood products daily, while upholding food safety and sanitation standards. Role and Responsibilities:

As a Seafood Clerk, your responsibilities include:

• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, taking orders, and assisting with product selection.
• Prepare, package, weigh, price, and label seafood products for customers.
• Rotate and merchandise seafood products to ensure freshness and availability.
• Maintain department displays, signage, coolers, and freezers.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to promote seafood products and increase department sales.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently while following H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards.

Food Safety / Sanitation:

• Clean and sanitize display cases, equipment, and work areas.
• Comply with departmental standard operating procedures and store policies.
• Ensure proper storage, rotation, and handling of seafood to maintain quality and safety.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum age 18.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training.
• Customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, retail environment with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn basic computer systems (e.g., Telxon, ACR, label machine).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in seafood, perishable foods, or grocery retail.
• Knowledge of various fish and shellfish products.
• Experience in food preparation, weighing, and packaging.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently stand, walk, pivot, grasp, and push/pull with arms.
• Constant reaching at waist level; occasional reaching overhead, shoulder, knee, and floor levels.
• Occasionally bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, twist, pinch, and perform fine motor movements.
