Role and Responsibilities of Grocery Perishables Associate:

As a Grocery Perishables Associate, you will ensure quality standards are met, provide outstanding customer service, and support sales growth while reducing shrink. Your responsibilities include creating a positive shopping environment, following company practices, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.

• Maintain a setting of lively customer focus, highlighting fast, courteous, and precise service.
• Extend helpful and polite aid to coworkers.
• Employ company tools such as the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS) and ordering systems like Computer-Assisted Ordering (CAO).
• Perform tasks such as receiving deliveries, coding as needed, rotating goods, and placing them in the correct storage spots.
• Confirm that merchandise handling, preparation, conditioning, and display are all conducted according to company policies.
• Ensure consistent availability of merchandise in the meat, deli, frozen, dairy, and ice cream sections.
• Adhere to the instructions in the production tool to process and grind beef effectively.
• Envelop, label, assess, and position meat appropriately.
• Assemble, dismantle, and sterilize grinders as part of routine maintenance.
• Keep the department clean and sanitized in accordance with established layout and variety standards.
• Validate that advertisements and promotional items adhere to prescribed rules.
• Follow all established rules, policies, and practices as outlined by Food Lion.
• Adhere to the established principles for maintaining safety standards in both food handling and workplace operations.
• Identify and rectify any unsafe conditions, then report them to the Manager on Duty.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations for legal compliance.
• Uphold a professional appearance by wearing the Food Lion uniform, along with an apron and a name badge, to maintain a clean and tidy look.
• Attend training sessions, specifically focusing on Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Packets.
• Execute miscellaneous tasks as requested.

Required Skills and Experience of Grocery Perishables Associate:

• Candidates with a high school diploma or an equivalent certification are preferred.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer interaction skills.
• Preparedness and enthusiasm to comprehend and excel in diverse tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Leveraging technical expertise to overcome challenges.
• Being within the designated age range is necessary to participate in the job duties.
• Showing the capability to meet the physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable adjustments.

Physical Requirements of Grocery Perishables Associate:

• Make the most of computers and other communication systems when required.
• Execute continual hand and arm motions.
• Routinely bend and raise objects up to 15 lbs., frequently manage items of 25 lbs., and occasionally lift loads weighing 50 lbs.
• Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Remain standing throughout and make sure to walk frequently.
• Operate with substances required for cleaning and packaging materials.
• Tasks involving reaching and gripping objects often occur at the waist level, with occasional needs to reach either above or below.
• Satisfy the established volume performance criteria.
• Remain operational in areas of severe temperatures, be it extremely hot or cold, for intervals up to 20 minutes.
