Depending on the demands of customers and the operational needs of the business, you may be assigned to different departments throughout your shift. As directed by store management, your responsibilities may span across various areas within the store:
Handling merchandise sales and offering customer support at the storefront during the checkout stage.
In the Meat/Frozen department, Produce/Dairy department, and Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply department, my role involves customer interaction on the sales floor
Restoring freight and rotating merchandise in various departments.
You might be asked to provide support during special store events including Vendor Fairs, sales floor restocking, and inventory management.
Duties And Responsibilities
Front End:
Foster and elevate customer relationships at CHEF'STORE to ensure a top-notch shopping experience for all patrons. Utilize the tools and strategies acquired through the CHEF'STORE Way training to demonstrate the recommended behavior in the store.
Efficiently manage sales and cash-related tasks on the point of sale interface. Duties consist of scanning products with a handheld scanner or 10-key pad, weighing items on countertop scales if required, and identifying and resolving scanning issues promptly. Ensure that the system correctly registers the barcode of each product and communicate any anomalies to the Front End Lead or Manager of Day (MOD).
Undertake the task of transferring all products from the shopping cart to a new one during checkout, along with a careful visual review to monitor for any unauthorized alterations to the items.
Verify the contents of the shopping cart against the purchased items as customers exit the store in the capacity of a receipt inspector.
Undertake the duties related to opening and closing procedures at the front end while following the assigned shift.
Sales Floor And Stocking:
Persistently prioritize the escalation of sales figures and the supervision of inventory shrinkage. Assist clientele in locating essential products and familiarize them with the array of additional services accessible within the store.
Support in the receipt of inventory shipments and the maintenance and arrangement of shelves in an organized fashion, while also overseeing product quality assessments and ensuring correct rotation procedures. Promptly alert store management to any shortages in stock levels.
Ensure accurate labeling by tagging unscannable items with a blaster, adding weight labels to products sold by the pound, and affixing PLU tags to produce.
Keep the sales floor stocked daily by transferring goods from the higher shelves to the lower shelves. Follow the FIFO inventory method to ensure older products are placed in front for quicker sale. Replenish any empty spots with fresh products when necessary. Utilize reach trucks and pallet jacks for the transportation and stocking of items.
Opt for computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and other proprietary software when necessary.
Keep all products easily accessible, visually appealing, and consistently accessible.
Support in making changes to prices as directed by the Pricing Lead and Store Executives.
Help with the beginning and ending operations of the store.
Participate in the inventory and cycle counting tasks as they arise.
Customer Courtesy:
To guarantee a safe workplace for employees and customers, it is crucial to maintain the facility adequately and follow safety policies. Report any safety concerns to store management and attempt to rectify them if feasible.
Utilize cleaning tools to help in maintaining the cleanliness of the sales floor, front end, and restrooms.
Maintain cleanliness in the store entry area and parking lot.
Take back and tidy up all carts from the parking lot and cart corrals, ensuring they are in a clean and operational state.
Relationships:
Engaging with employees at all levels of the company is a fundamental requirement for the incumbent.
The incumbent's duties include communicating with customers and external suppliers of services and products.
Work Environment:
This position involves working within a retail store setting that is open to the public, exposing employees to outside weather conditions, which may at times be unfavorable. The noise level in the workplace is typically at a moderate level. Job duties are primarily carried out on flat terrain; however, there may be occasions where the use of a ladder or working at an elevated position is necessary. The temperature fluctuates inside the store, with a range from -10 to 85 degrees. Regular physical interaction with customers is a key aspect of the role.
Minimum Qualifications:
The job requires applicants to have worked in retail as a cashier or in stocking for a minimum of six months to a year.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of experience in retail sales and/or customer service.

Efficiently climb in and out of the truck or trailer and the cab, demonstrating adept balancing skills. Navigate ramps to transition smoothly between ground level, side doorsteps, and the trailer platform. Merging onto stairs requires a methodical approach and focus on stability
One of the key actions our hands perform is clutching onto various objects like a hand truck, boxes, cartons, or a steering wheel, ensuring a firm and stable grip
Competence in manual abilities like typing and managing office equipment like copiers and printers is required
