Job Summary of Food Service Team Member:
Dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction through attentive, friendly, and informed service provision, responding to customer questions and suggesting recommendations through suggestive selling; assisting the Food Service Manager in the daily activities of the Food Service department; maintaining a tidy, clean, and visually attractive department with a focus on product preparation and safe handling; completing other tasks as required proficiently and safely, within Company regulations.
Qualifications of Food Service Team Member:
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures. Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.
- Ability to tolerate dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to operate all equipment customarily used by the Food Service Department and other equipment as may be required. Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
Responsibilities of Food Service Team Member:
- Ensure a clean, orderly, and safe work environment by sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces as required by Department of Sanitation and QA regulations.
- Keep the floor free of debris and spills for safety and cleanliness. Greet customers warmly and provide them with efficient and courteous service. Inform customers about any charitable promotions in progress to encourage their involvement.
- Uphold the acceptable shelf, case, and display conditions through the activities of stocking, cleaning, organizing, and rotating products.
- Execute the preparation of various products like salads, sandwiches, chicken dishes, pizza, and pasta, as well as catering orders, in accordance with established Company standards and recipes.
- Check to ensure that proper temperatures are maintained in the display cases, steam tables, during heating and cooling of product and in all storage areas.
- Maintain compliance with established procedures for the receipt and preservation of products for quality assurance and inventory management. Manage damaged or unmerchantable items following Company policy.
- Keep customers informed about product choices and ingredients with signage displayed on all items. Follow department guidelines by using and maintaining equipment appropriately, and promptly report any equipment issues.
- Keep the work area tidy and orderly consistently, following the local health and safety regulations.
- Fulfill all duties in accordance with Company regulations, policies, safety guidelines, and security protocols, as well as adhering to all Local, State, and Federal health and civil code regulations.
- Perform tasks using the required equipment for the department, including slicer, scale, can opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryolator, cheese grater/cutter, case cutter, and stove/oven.
- Execute recognized methods for accepting, coding with dates, readying, storing, and pricing, organizing, and restocking products to ensure quality, precision, rotation, and protection.
- Comply with Company policies on dress and grooming, which encompass wearing the prescribed uniform, visibly exhibiting a name badge, and meeting expectations regarding headgear or hair restraint.
- Perform duties in accordance with QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling food. Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate equipment and merchandise that weights 25 lbs. and occasionally weights up to 60 lbs.
- Transport items from trucks to the Food Service Department, with each weighing 25 pounds.
- The weight fluctuates and can sometimes be as much as 60 pounds.
- Ensure continuous presence in the Food Service Department during the assigned shift, which might extend beyond 8 hours daily. Understand and follow the Company's guidelines on reducing shrinkage in Food Service operations.
- Execute duties following the Company's HAZCOM protocol and comply with the manufacturer's label instructions for the safe and proper handling of chemical substances.
- Join and complete all department-focused training sessions. Perform all obligations following the ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Hospitality, Appearance, and Effectiveness).
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Be ready to work overtime when required. Foster a cooperative work environment. Individuals must be of legal age to operate certain machinery. Fulfill any other assigned duties.
