Job Summary of Retail Sales Associate:

In the role of a Retail Sales Associate, you will be responsible for delivering friendly and efficient checkout services, ensuring the accurate processing of customer transactions, and maintaining a clean and well-organized work area. Your active involvement in assisting customers and promoting superior service will enhance the overall shopping experience.

Responsibilities of Retail Sales Associate:

• Follow and comply with the established policies and procedures of the organization.
• Clean Service Desk/Kiosk.
• Make sure to always have a neat and well-maintained appearance and follow the company's policy on personal grooming.
• Assist in distinctive tasks and complete any other functions as designated by management.
• Comply with the MPP regulations in place to support and enhance productivity within the company.
• Abide by and support all safety measures put in place by the company.
• Request maintenance or repairs for equipment as needed. Ensure the work area is free from debris and safety hazards.
• Uphold a standard of treating all associates justly, with dignity, and in a respectful way.
• Implement precise price confirmation functions.
• Restrict the disproportionate use of store materials like ribbons, receipt tape, bags, and cleaning items.
• Document any price variations or items not on file identified through the electronic point-of-sale terminal onto the designated forms and promptly follow company policy by requesting price checks for such items.
• Authenticate all customer IDs provided and adhere to store protocols regarding check acceptance and the sale of tobacco and alcoholic beverages.
• Adhere to the company's rules concerning an excess of cash in the registers and arrange for a cash retrieval following the company's guidelines.
• Observe security standards by being vigilant and mindful of the behavior and movements of customers.
• Notify a manager or security immediately if there is abnormal behavior.
• Process diverse forms of accepted store transactions, such as cash, checks, authorized Accounts Receivable sales, Electronic Payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, bottle credits, refunds, lottery, Western Union, etc., according to company policies and relevant regulations.
• Ensure the safekeeping of the register when left alone and protect the company's resources at all times.
• Maintain equipment in excellent condition through proper handling and timely reporting of any faults or failures.
• Adhere to routine practices that uphold cleanliness and sanitation requirements in accordance with store policies and state and local health ordinances.
• Have a solid understanding of the array of produce items sold in the store and the capacity to differentiate between them, including distinguishing between different types of produce such as apples and lettuce.
• Routinely handle cashier and service associate tasks.
• Carry out any other tasks as instructed

• Record the customer's items into the cash register by scanning them efficiently and without errors.
• Accept cash, checks, or electronic payments from clients and dispense accurate change in compliance with company rules and regulations.
• Dispense refunds to consumers and colleagues following regular guidelines.
• Meeting the physical standards of the position is a requirement, even if reasonable accommodations are necessary.
• Abide by Anti-Money Laundering guidelines when completing transactions involving Western Union transfers, money orders, prepaid cards, and check cashing procedures.
• Prerequisite Training:
• Successful completion of the Cashier/Service Associate training packet

Physical Requirements of Retail Sales Associate:

• Use hands to frequently/continuously handle currency (paper and coin) as well as operate a variety of equipment such as cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, and calculator.
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds on occasion.
• Push or pull up to 75 pounds on occasion.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
• Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
• Have sufficient visual acuity to check ID cards, checks, invoices and other written documents.
• Stand 100% of the time with occasional walking short distances.
