Responsibilities of Meat Department Packer:
- Wrap, weigh, price, and label meats and related products.
- Order supplies for department (wrapping materials and labels).
- Communicate low stocked items to the department manager.
- Stock display case.
- Communicate temperature failure to department manager.
- Provide friendly, courteous customer assistance.
- Maintain good cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Observe policies and procedures established for the department.
- Observe all state, local, and federal health, weights, and measures laws.
- Greet all customers and be observant.
- Abid by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
- Assist in the maintenance of the price book.
Qualifications of Meat Department Packer:
- Competence in reading and writing to correctly label products.
- Competence in hand dexterity plays a key role in successfully wrapping and maneuvering items.
- Should be capable of working with frozen or refrigerated meats in a cold environment for at least fifty-five percent (55%) of the time during an eight-hour shift.
- The role includes being resilient to cold temperatures, such as those below minus fifteen degrees Fahrenheit, for a fraction not surpassing five percent of the regular eight-hour workday.
- Must be capable of lifting objects up to seventy pounds for a substantial portion of the time.
