Job Summary of Customer Service Assistant:
The role of a Customer Service Assistant at ShopRite revolves around the task of gathering and returning carts or carriages from the parking lot while also providing support to shoppers with their shopping needs. This position is key to ensuring the efficiency of the front-end procedures and underlining the significance of cleanliness, organization, and outstanding service.
Responsibilities of Customer Service Assistant:
- Retrieve unused shopping carts from specific zones in the parking lot and return them to designated cart holding areas within the store premises.
- Maintain a safe and tidy work or shopping environment within and around the store.
- Clear any debris from the carts before returning them to the store.
- Support clients by facilitating the loading of their groceries into their vehicles if they require assistance.
- Provide a friendly acknowledgment to all visitors and make sure they are promptly assisted with kindness.
- Implement the company's policies for dealing with damaged or returnable stock items, with special consideration given to perishable goods and expiration dates.
- Urge customers to get involved in current charity campaigns with their transactions.
- Double-check the prices and be well-versed in the whereabouts of products in the store.
- Alert management immediately of any issues with equipment or potential hazards that may pose a risk.
- Observe the company's standards for dress code and personal grooming, such as wearing the prescribed uniform, name tag, and any hair covering that is deemed necessary.
- Abide by QA hand washing protocols and use gloves when handling food products.
- Abide by the front-end operation regulations established by local, state, and federal governments.
- Follow and adhere to all company regulations, policies, safety protocols, and sanitation procedures.
- Employ and care for equipment as necessary for departmental operations.
- Fulfill all obligations in line with ShopRite's service ethos, with a focus on Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
- Be ready to stand and walk for periods longer than 8 hours per day as part of the scheduled shift.
- Consistently handle, move, shift, and revolve products weighing up to 25 lbs., occasionally handling those that are up to 50 lbs.
- Make it a priority to attend consistently and arrive promptly.
- Adhere to extended work hours as instructed.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and undertake miscellaneous tasks when needed.
Qualifications of Customer Service Assistant:
- Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines.
- Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language proficiently.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
