Role and Responsibilities:

In the role of a Meat Handler at Whole Foods Market, you will be tasked with slicing, readying, exhibiting, and vending meat items, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and upholding food safety protocols. • Slice, arrange, and promote various types of meat products like beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry.
• Develop specialty meat items including sausages, pre-cooked offerings, and preserved meats.
• Confirm that products adhere to the quality guidelines set by Whole Foods Market.
• Oversee sampling campaigns and help avoid product deterioration.
• Offer mentorship and aid to appointed Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
• Furnish exceptional customer support, respond promptly to customer needs, and exemplify suggestive sales tactics.
• Optimize sales opportunities by ensuring that products are appropriately prepped, stored, rotated, stocked, and merchandised.
• Follow guidelines related to health, sanitation, Weights and Measures, and safety protocols.
• Keep the work and shopping areas tidy and sanitized, and make sure equipment is up to standard.
• Carry out starting, middle, and ending responsibilities, which involve guaranteeing the precision of signs and pricing.
• Report without delay any safety dangers and non-compliance issues.
• Carry out any other tasks delegated by store, regional, or national leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Over a year working in the retail industry.
• The successful fulfillment of the Whole Foods Market Butcher Apprentice Program, or a comparable educational course, is necessary for consideration (rules may differ in the UK).
• Familiarity with the workflow and guidelines of the meat team.
• Demonstrating exceptional cutting abilities, which involve breaking down items into sub-primal and retail cuts effectively.
• Comprehensive familiarity with a range of meat and seafood cuts and preparation styles.
• Skill in visually assessing products for freshness and quality.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary scale for this role ranges from $18.50 to $30.20 per hour and is determined by experience, calculated based on a standard 40-hour work week. Whole Foods Market has designed a comprehensive benefits package called Whole Benefits, which may consist of:
