Meat Market Manager

Job Summary of Meat Market Manager:

Direct and manage all activities in the Meat Department to meet sales and profit objectives. Maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation for all meat products. Provide training, leadership, and motivation to team members to ensure excellent customer service and efficient department operations.

Responsibilities of Meat Market Manager:

• Prepares a weekly schedule based on projected sales, volume and work load.
• Along with Store Director, work out localized merchandising plans for the department.
• Follow approved Meat Department plans for effective space management based on movement, consumer demand and profitability.
• Order merchandise and control inventory to minimize out-of-stock and overstocks, and to maximize sales.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving product, price marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
• Control department expenses.
• Take action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses.
• Effectively supervise, train, schedule, and conducts annual performance reviews on all Meat Department personnel.
• Follow planned program of maintenance on cases, coolers refrigeration and meat department personnel.
• Ensure favorable department image with customers through a clean, attractive and friendly department.
• Maintain and submit required records, reports, and bi-weekly inventory.
• Observe local conditions and competitive activity relating to the Meat Department and keep others informed.
• Maintain good communications and competitive activity relating to the Meat Department and keep other informed.
• Observe State and health regulations.
• Ensure compliance to local, state, and government weights and measures, and labeling laws.
• Greet all customers and be observant.
• Must ensure that all employees follow proper "lock out/tag out" procedure while repairing or cleaning mechanical or electrical equipment.
• Receive, weigh, and breakdown meat and related products.
• Cut and trim all merchandise as directed by company standards.
• Abid by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications of Meat Market Manager:

• A high school education is the lowest compulsory educational level.
• Skill in reading and writing is crucial for correctly tagging products, placing orders, and managing inventory while ensuring proper product rotations.
• High-level analytical skills are essential for studying and understanding various reports to ensure the department remains profitable.
• Applicants are expected to have at least two years of experience as a meat cutter.
• It is important to possess strong oral and written communication skills for interactions with customers, employees, and vendors.
• Dexterity in handling the knives and tools is vital for the proper cutting and shaping of meats.
• Capable of handling loads weighing up to seventy (70) pounds for forty percent (40%) of the job duration.
