Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of The Cash Handler is to provide a warm, efficient, and precise check-out experience for our clientele. Responsibilities include conducting transactions, processing payments, and highlighting BJ's membership solutions, all while ensuring the cleanliness and order of the front area.

Main assignments, duties, and key responsibilities:

• Delivers exceptional member assistance by warmly welcoming members, processing purchases efficiently, and addressing inquiries courteously.
• Operates the Point of Sale system to scan merchandise, ensuring correctness in pricing and tracking inventory.
• Accepts various payment types like cash, check, credit card, and mobile options.
• Delivers information on the benefits of joining, continuing, and enhancing memberships, such as BJ’s Loyalty and EASY Renewal plans.
• Verifies the precision of all transactions by issuing receipts or providing accurate change to customers.
• Provides guidance to individuals utilizing self-service payment terminals, helping with basic tech challenges.
• Manages the cleanliness of the front-end vicinity, cash registers, and member payment areas.
• Remains current on promotions and advertisements to ensure members are aware of savings and special offers.
• Conforming to all club policies and procedures to guarantee operational effectiveness and member approval.
• Undertakes supplementary duties as allocated, which can include providing assistance in alternative areas when necessary.
• Being present on a regular and anticipated basis is a critical aspect of this position.

Qualifications:

• Basic arithmetic skills and experience in managing money are valued.
• Candidates with prior work experience in cashiering, retail, or customer service are preferred.
• Strong aptitude for connecting with customers and communicating clearly.
• Skill in managing responsibilities promptly in a fast-paced, high-capacity surrounding.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• Repeatedly being upright and moving on tough terrain.
• Sporadic bending, reaching, and hoisting loads of up to 30 lbs (heavier objects with help).
• Predominantly an indoor atmosphere with little interaction with varying temperatures or high levels of noise.
• Periodic exposure to cleaning products.
