Produce Department Associate

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Produce Department Associate, you will ensure the produce department remains fresh, organized, and inviting while delivering outstanding service to customers. You will play a vital role in maintaining product quality and supporting smooth departmental operations.

• Welcome customers and provide helpful guidance on produce selection and product information.
• Organize and maintain visually appealing displays of fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Stock, rotate, and inspect products to guarantee freshness and remove any damaged items.
• Ensure accurate pricing and signage for all produce items.
• Assist in receiving and checking deliveries, upholding strict quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs promptly.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
• Keep department and storage areas clean and organized.
• Work collaboratively with team members, store management, and other departments.
• Help train new produce clerks or associates as required.
• Support other departments during peak periods or when requested.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong customer service focus with a commitment to delivering excellent experiences.
• Basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables and a willingness to expand product expertise.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Attention to detail to maintain cleanliness and organization standards.
• Collaborative team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, proactive, and strong work ethic.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Minimum age requirement: 18 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

• No prior produce experience required; previous grocery or retail experience is a plus.
• Basic math skills for pricing and cash handling.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly wage: $15.00 - $17.00, depending on experience and location.
