Job Summary of Store Service Clerk:
The Store Service Clerk directly reports to the store manager and has an indirect reporting line to both the assistant store managers and shift leaders.This role encompasses responsibilities including cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and overseeing perishables.The Store Service Clerk is committed to delivering outstanding customer service and plays a key role in ensuring optimal daily store conditions.All job responsibilities are executed in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities of Store Service Clerk:
- Efficiently operates a cash register and performs checkout procedures at or above the required performance standards. This involves meeting the specified transaction time per item and accurately managing and counting different payment methods including cash, EBT, debit cards, credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
- Executes transactions according to the designated check-out and cash handling procedures and policies.
- Regularly meets or surpasses the established expectations related to the handling, stocking, and maintenance of grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and perishable products.
- Supports the removal of items from delivery vehicles.
- Stocks products using platforms, shelves, peg hooks, or in baskets, and refrigerated storage solutions based on demand.
- Arranges inventory appropriately while verifying the precision and quality of received items, both physically and in the stock database.
- Retrieves abandoned carts from the parking zone.
- Ensures the upkeep of outstanding store conditions.
- Establishes a safe and sanitary workplace.
- Executes allocated cleaning duties that encompass the upkeep of floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register area, backroom, restrooms, parking lot, and various fixtures.
- Delivers exceptional customer care, which includes communicating in a warm and courteous manner.
- Assists in the instruction and development of additional store team members.
- Supervises the appropriate cycling of both dated and undated inventory.
- Confirms the correct pricing of products through the presence of price tags/signs as per company display instructions.
- Secures the assets, finances, and merchandise belonging to the organization.
- Adequately showcases, processes, packs, and restocks authorized farm yield.
- Provides support to fresh hires as needed.
- Performs additional functions, like supporting in alternative store locations, as allocated.
Qualification of Store Service Clerk:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven, efficient retail sales experience; experience in dry grocery, perishable, meat, general grocery, cash management and excellent customer service preferred.
- Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in basic math skills required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and basic computer skills.
- Must be dependable and flexible to work scheduled shifts, including a willingness to work in other areas of the store as needed with little or no advance notice.
- Must adhere to safety standards.
- Must adhere to a uniform dress code.
Physical Requirements of Store Service Clerk:
- Requires the physical capability to extend, bend, stabilize, lift, and transport a variety of objects weighing 20-50 pounds repetitively during the working hours; there may be times when objects weigh 50-80 pounds.
- Required to have the stamina for standing, walking, or being in motion for prolonged periods.
- Success in this position relies on the capacity to exert pressure, pull, grip, turn, and perform sawing actions continuously.
- Consistently works in cold temperatures within freezers, refrigerated sections, delivery trucks, and varied weather conditions indoors and outdoors.
