Meat Cutter

Job Summary:

As a Meat Cutter, you will play an essential role in delivering fresh, high-quality meat products to our customers. Working closely under the guidance of a Meat Cutter I, you will ensure the department remains well-stocked, well-maintained, and focused on excellent customer service with a strong sense of ownership and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

• Cut, trim, and prepare meat products to company standards, supporting the Meat Cutter I
• Operate meat cutting equipment such as grinders, saws, tenderizers, slicers, and knife sharpeners safely and efficiently
• Weigh, wrap, label, and tray meat products for sale, maintaining high freshness and quality standards
• Rotate and properly store meat products in coolers and on the sales floor to ensure optimal freshness
• Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions and assisting customers with their meat selections
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment and work areas following department, store, and regulatory guidelines
• Assist with technical meat cutting tasks and support the overall meat department operations as needed
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe work environment

Qualifications and Experience:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume retail or food environments preferred
• Customer service experience is highly valued
• Completion of required job skills and compliance training is required
• Familiarity with JVSS Meat Cutter training tools and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) a plus
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand and arm movements
• Comfortable working in cold and wet conditions typical of meat department environments
• Capacity to lift and manage weights up to 90 lbs safely, with appropriate assistance for heavier items
• Able to perform bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and other physical tasks as necessary
• Adaptability to work in noisy or potentially hazardous environments while maintaining safety
