As a member of the Retail Operations team in the Deli Bakery Department, you will support Food Lion’s mission of delivering excellent service, maintaining departmental standards, and driving customer satisfaction.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Deli Bakery Associate, you will provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department. You will ensure proper merchandising, food safety, and sanitation standards are upheld while delivering friendly service, maintaining product levels, and following company policies and procedures.

• Maintain an enthusiastic customer-focused atmosphere with fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Provide courteous and helpful support to fellow associates.
• Follow technical manuals for product processing, labeling, and placement.
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise complies with guidelines and policies.
• Maintain proper sanitation of the department, equipment, and food preparation/handling areas.
• Use company tools, such as ACIS (Average Cost Inventory System) and CAO ordering system.
• Understand and adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and identify/correct unsafe conditions.
• Report associate and customer accidents per Food Lion policy to the Manager on Duty.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with name badge, maintaining a clean and professional appearance.
• Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packets, and Training Aid courses.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and job-specific technical requirements.
• Problem-solving skills using technical information.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for job functions.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to use computers and communication systems required for job functions.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Bend and lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Stand for entire shifts with frequent short-distance walking.
• Handle substances related to cleaning and packaging materials.
• Perform frequent reaching/grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder and below waist.
• Meet established volume activity standards.
• Tolerate working in hot or cold environments for up to 20 minutes at a time.
