Job Summary of Produce Crew Manager:
Direct and manage all operations and activities in the Produce Department to achieve sales and profit targets. Maintain the highest standard of quality and freshness in products while adhering to excellent merchandising criteria. Provide training, guidance, and motivation to team members for exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities of Produce Crew Manager:
- Along with the Store Director, work out localized merchandising plan for the department.
- Follow approved Produce Department Plans for effective space management based on movement, consumer demand and profitability.
- Order merchandise and control inventory to minimize out-of-stocks and overstocks and to maximize sales.
- Follow approved procedures for receiving product, price marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
- Control department expenses.
- Take action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses.
- Effectively train, schedule and supervise other produce department personnel.
- Follow planned program for cleaning and preventative maintenance on cases, back room coolers, and refrigeration equipment.
- Establish culture and a favorable department image with customers through a clean, attractive and friendly atmosphere.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain and submit required records and reports.
- Observe local conditions and competitive activity relating to the produce department and keep others informed.
- Maintain good communications in the store, the produce department and throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance to company's Sanitation, Safety and Security Program.
- Ensure compliance to local, state and government weights and measures laws, and health department regulations.
- Greet all customers and be observant.
- Monitor products for quality, count and freshness.

- Prepare a weekly schedule based on projected sales volume and workload.

Qualifications of Produce Crew Manager:
- Possession of a high school qualification is a foundational requirement.
- The ability to read and write proficiently is key in correctly labeling merchandise, ordering items, keeping track of inventory, and maintaining the proper rotation of products.
- High-level analytical skills are crucial for studying and understanding different reports to keep the department profitable.
- Candidates are expected to have a minimum of two years of experience in the capacity of a produce clerk.
- The capability to communicate effectively through speech and writing is vital for engaging with customers, employees, and vendors.
- A high level of hand agility is needed to trim and encase crops appropriately.
- Aptitude for unloading, transferring, and arranging goods in their designated places.
- Must demonstrate the capability to lift up to fifty pounds for half of the time.
