The Meat Clerk ensures guests receive high-quality cuts and excellent service at the meat and seafood counter. This role involves restocking, rotating, and maintaining meat displays, assisting with special orders, and upholding food safety and quality standards in a fast-paced retail environment.
Responsibilities of Meat Clerk:
Provide exceptional guest service at the meat counter and on the sales floor, including fulfilling special orders and answering product questions.
Maintain fresh, well-stocked displays by inspecting, rotating, and replenishing meat products and supplies.
Ensure regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and provide adequate notice for absences.
Collaborate with the team and perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
Qualifications and Experience of Meat Clerk:
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with guests, leaders, and team members in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to learn food safety standards, proper equipment usage (like slicers), and inventory practices.
Ability to multitask while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
Understanding of safety and food safety practices, including proper use of equipment such as slicers, trash compactors, balers, and safe lifting techniques.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Stand for long periods, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly.
Full range of upper body motion.
Lift up to 80 pounds occasionally.
Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (freezers, coolers, kitchens, and sales floor).
Repetitive motion of hands and wrists.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule of Meat Clerk:
Part-time or full-time position with varying shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
