Role and Responsibilities:
The Cook's duties include preparing high-quality food products for cold cases, fresh packs, salad bars, and hot bars while maintaining sanitation and presentation standards. Consistency, freshness, and delivering excellent customer service are central to this role, in alignment with Whole Foods Market's values and food safety protocols.
- Prepare food products for cold storage, ready-to-eat packs, salad sections, and hot serving areas according to instructions and recipes.
- Ensure all items are properly labeled, dated, covered, checked for freshness, and rotated appropriately.
- Monitor inventory levels and restock items as necessary.
- Arrive on time, maintain proper grooming, and participate in all required training and meetings.
- Provide excellent customer support, respond promptly to customer needs, and demonstrate effective upselling techniques.
- Maximize sales by preparing, storing, rotating, restocking, and displaying products effectively.
- Follow established guidelines for Weights and Measures, sanitation, hygiene, and safe operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work and shopping environment; ensure equipment, storage, and refrigeration comply with cleanliness standards.
- Complete start, middle, and end-of-shift tasks accurately, including signage and pricing verification.
- Report safety hazards or violations immediately.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors at the store, regional, or national level.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of products and ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Knowledge of food preparation and basic culinary skills.
- Basic math skills required for measuring and portioning ingredients.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
