Job Summary:Bakery Counter Clerk

Proofs and bakes all unfinished bakery goods by following each item's product handling information using ovens and/or other equipment.Maintains all cleaning and safety standards within the bakery department.Unpacks bakery goods from the freezer and displays proper amounts based on bakery production chart recommendations, including safe handling and storage instructions.

Key job functions, primary responsibilities, and essential duties:

• Assists with answering questions and proposes bakery products. Takes calls from members and organizes unique orders.
• Follows the handling instructions for each bakery item to bake and complete them using ovens and necessary equipment. Relies on bakery production charts to determine production and display requirements. Prepares products for the subsequent business day.
• Prepares and packages a selection of freshly baked items like cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, and pies following specific requests. Unpacks frozen bakery goods and showcases the appropriate quantities guided by the bakery's production chart.
• Decorates custom-made or exclusive items to elevate their appearance.
• Adheres to proper procedures for rotating and storing bakery products to uphold food safety standards and ensure product integrity.
• Receives, examines, and stores bakery shipments efficiently. Follows guidelines for the rotation and storage of bakery items in line with food safety requirements, product freshness standards, and handling procedures.
• Ensures the freshness and quality standards of products by conducting regular inspections for expired items and adhering to the prescribed procedures for managing such inventory.
• Prepares bakery goods labels and price tags and conducts price checks as needed. Ensures that all items are priced accurately.
• Implements cleaning and sanitizing protocols for bakery equipment, display racks, and food surfaces, including baking appliances, kitchen utensils, refrigerated cases, product shelves, and workstations.
• Uses bakery tools and equipment while following safe operational procedures and adhering to safety policies and guidelines.
• Adheres to the club's guidelines and procedures without exceptions.
• Acts on other assignments as required, such as assisting in various departments when needed.
• Continuous, projected, thorough attendance is a critical requirement for this job.

Qualifications:

• Ideal candidates will have familiarity with bakery operations or customer service.
• Familiarity with bakery products preferred.
• The minimum age for participation is 18 years.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• A significant amount of time is allocated towards moving around on non-solid surfaces. There might be moments where one needs to reposition to inspect or scan goods, which may involve bending, handling, pulling, reaching, pushing, and/or stooping.
• Frequently lifting objects weighing up to 30 pounds is often expected. There may also be occasions when heavier or awkward items exceeding 30 pounds need to be lifted and repositioned with the aid of another person.
• Located in a comfortable indoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
• Cleaning agents are often encountered frequently.
