Job Summary of Custodian:

This position supports the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall appearance of the office environment. Responsibilities include general cleaning, light HVAC work, small facility repairs, and event support. The individual serves as a team lead for janitorial operations and acts as a backup when staffing issues arise. A focus on safety, organization, and timely task execution is key to success in this role.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Custodian:

• Perform light building maintenance including painting, hanging items, running wires, and moving equipment.
• Conduct basic HVAC maintenance such as filter replacements.
• Carry out general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
• Assist in setting up and tearing down meeting and event spaces.
• Monitor and report inventory needs for cleaning supplies.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety standards.
• Support outdoor maintenance including snow removal and landscaping tasks.
• Serve as team lead for the janitorial staff and fill in during callouts or staffing shortages.
• Assist with parking lot coordination, event setup, and security support during events.
• Provide cold weather support including salting and shoveling walkways.
• Help with office and cubicle moves, including equipment setup and minor repairs.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by department leadership in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience of Custodian:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Trade school education preferred.
• 1–2 years of maintenance experience required; 3–4 years preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
