Job Summary of Backroom Associate:
As a Backroom Associate at Hy-Vee, you will review the state and look of the merchandise for freshness. Ensure that an appropriate product supply is ready and on hand, and design or follow a production schedule. On a daily basis, anticipate the department's product needs Check in the product, put it away, and review invoices.
Responsibilities of Backroom Associate:
- Ensures excellent customer experiences by showing empathy, attentiveness, and a customer-centric attitude that focuses on prioritizing customers' needs and making them feel important.
- Establishes a friendly rapport with customers by warmly greeting them and maintaining a pleasant attitude throughout the interaction.
- Helping clients includes escorting them to the products they are looking for, obtaining products that are out of reach, and assisting with loading or unloading heavy items. Making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests is necessary for providing quality assistance. Performing various tasks to enhance the shopping experience is also a vital part of customer support
- Promptly assists customers over the phone and provides them with friendly and useful support. Works together with teammates to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work culture.
- Performing truck unloading, container opening, shelf stocking, overstock handling on risers, and product rotation.
- Monitors for miss-picked items, reviews product outs, wrong deliveries, etc. Organizes stock for greatest efficiency, cleans and restocks damaged items. Tags the shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers. Reports all new or different items for the scanning coordinator for input into the system.
- Maintains a commitment to department and company standards regarding personal hygiene and attire. Abides by company policies and adheres to individual store guidelines consistently.
- Upholds a consistent attendance record by reporting to work punctually and completing the scheduled hours.
Qualification of Backroom Associate:
- Expected to have problem-solving capabilities to address practical issues, handle a variety of variables with limited consistency, and correctly interpret instructions.
- Skilled in performing arithmetic operations that involve fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Possessing the ability to comprehend and execute verbal or demonstrated instructions, record identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing is necessary.
- High school or equivalent experience. Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Physical Requirements of Backroom Associate:
- Must be able to physically perform very heavy work, exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions of Backroom Associate:
- The daily duties of this role include being in environments with dirt, dealing with loud noises, facing risks from equipment movement, and handling chemicals and solvents regularly.
- He faces occasional exposure to temperature extremes and the threat of electrical shock in his role.
