Role and Responsibilities:

The Produce Clerk plays a key role in maintaining a fresh, organized, and customer-friendly produce department. You will assist customers, maintain product quality, and ensure the department operates smoothly.

• Greet customers and provide friendly assistance with product selection and information.
• Maintain attractive and organized displays of fresh produce.
• Stock and rotate products to ensure freshness and remove damaged items.
• Ensure produce is properly tagged with accurate pricing and signage.
• Assist in receiving and inspecting produce deliveries, ensuring quality standards are met.
• Track and report inventory levels to ensure timely stock replenishment.
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and safety guidelines for handling produce.
• Maintain clean and organized department and storage areas.
• Collaborate with team members, store management, and other departments.
• Assist in training new produce clerks or other associates as needed.
• Support other store departments during busy periods or as requested.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Customer-focused attitude with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
• Basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables; willingness to learn more about produce.
• Physical stamina to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods.
• Attention to detail to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
• Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and proactive approach to tasks.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Experience:

• No prior experience in produce required; grocery or retail experience is a plus.
• Basic math skills for handling pricing and cash transactions.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly wage: $15.00 - $17.00 (based on experience and location).
