Building Maintenance Worker

Job Summary of Building Maintenance Worker:

As a Building Maintenance Worker at ShopRite, you will help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both customers and team members. You will be responsible for to perform maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the store as presented by Store Management to ensure that the store premises and fixtures are kept clean and sanitary, including restrooms, common areas, and floors. You will also assist in collecting carts, managing waste and recycling, and maintaining equipment according to safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities of Building Maintenance Worker:

• Sustain a store setting that is tidy, well-managed, and secure consistently.
• Carry out the cleaning and sterilizing of bathrooms, with a focus on all plumbing fixtures.
• Regularly replace bathroom essentials like soap, paper towels, and toilet paper to maintain cleanliness.
• Undertake floor-cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, or vacuuming according to guidelines.
• Cleanse and sanitize breakrooms and other communal areas as requested.
• Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and notify management if inventory runs low.
• Dispose of waste properly by emptying trash and recycling containers placed at various locations within the store.
• Use floor scrubbers as part of cleaning procedures while maintaining safety standards.
• Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and return them to their designated spots inside the store premises.
• Double-check that secondary doors are safely locked before going outdoors to clean or dispose of rubbish.
• Alert store management right away if you encounter any equipment failures or hazardous situations.
• Provide assistance to other divisions through maintenance-related assignments.
• Extend a welcoming demeanor to all customers and provide them with quick, courteous assistance.
• Abide by safety and hygiene protocols diligently, particularly concerning the proper use of chemicals.
• Observe and follow all store procedures, regulations, and policies, which encompass guidelines for uniform and grooming expectations.
• Abide by ShopRite's emphasis on Service Priorities, such as Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency, when carrying out tasks.
• Handle any additional responsibilities assigned.

Qualifications of Building Maintenance Worker:

• Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and floor cleaning machines.
• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to tolerate dust, cleaning agents, and various temperature conditions.
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and follow safety procedures at all times.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and follow direction from management.
• Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies.
