Job Summary of Deli Associate:
To ensure excellent customer satisfaction by supporting the Deli Associate with daily operations in the Appy/Deli Department. Keeping the department tidy, attractive, and organized is essential while carrying out duties efficiently and safely in compliance with company regulations.
Qualifications of Deli Associate:
- Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to operate equipment as require by department (i.e. slicer, scale, can-opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryolator, cheese grater/cutter, case cutter and stove/oven).
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures.
- Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences.
- Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties.
- Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
- Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
Responsibilities of Deli Associate:
- Utilize a slicing apparatus along with its associated machinery.
- Replenish Appy/Deli product.
- Get the Appy/Deli product ready for marketing.
- Adhere to authorized protocols for accepting, labeling with expiration dates, readying, storing, and labeling with prices, organizing, and replenishing goods to guarantee precision, quality, and safeguarding of product rotation.
- Follow Company guidelines for managing defective and ruined items and help monitor the amount of impaired merchandise.
- Ensure that the manager or assigned personnel are regularly updated on inventory shortages or issues with perishable items.
- Ensure that salad bowls and other exhibits are consistently replenished and correctly arranged to meet department guidelines.
- Regularly inspect refrigeration units to ensure they are functioning correctly; notify maintenance of any malfunctions promptly.
- Make sure to use and upkeep equipment according to departmental needs and notify promptly of any equipment malfunctions.
- Keep the workplace tidy, well-ordered, and secure to ensure a safe working atmosphere.
- Transfer items from delivery trucks to the Appy/Deli Department, handling goods that are 25 lbs in weight, occasionally reaching up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently handle and move items weighing 25 lbs, with occasional items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comprehend and follow the Company's policies on reducing losses in relation to the operations of the Appy/Deli Department.
- Make sure to use machinery with all safety measures intact and functioning properly.
- Practice proper procedures when carrying out tasks in a secure manner.
- Adhere to Department of Sanitation and QA guidelines when cleaning and disinfecting all work surfaces, tools, and machinery.
- Maintain an unobstructed floor surface by removing any clutter and liquid accidents.
- Verify the items received with the details listed on the invoice.
- Follow the department manager's directions to place an order for the product.
- Dispose of waste in the assigned location.
- Remove cardboard and operate the baler in the designated area.
- Carry out adjustments to prices as instructed by the Department Manager.
- Presents items in an attractive, eye-catching, and vibrant way.
- Verify the costs and familiarize yourself with the placement of products within the store.
- Encourage customers to explore ongoing charitable campaigns that are currently available for purchase.
- Be on your feet at the work station throughout the assigned shift, which could extend beyond 8 hours each day.
- Having expertise in distinguishing between different types of merchandise is crucial, whether it be based on taste, preparation techniques, or prices that may vary among similar product categories.
- Keep track of cleaning product and sanitizing solution inventory levels and notify the supervisor when quantities are running low following the designated protocols.
- Adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth by Local, State, and Federal authorities concerning the operation of the Appy/Deli department.
- Carry out all responsibilities following the guidelines set by the Company, including policies, safety protocols, and security measures, as well as adhering to health and civil code regulations at the Local, State, and Federal levels.
- Adhere to the guidelines set by the Company regarding attire and personal grooming, encompassing the appropriate use of uniforms, name tags, as well as hats or hair accessories as necessary.
- Adhere to the quality assurance guidelines for handwashing and wear disposable gloves while working with food.
- Carry out responsibilities following the Company's HAZCOM initiative and comply with manufacturer's guidelines on the appropriate and secure handling of chemical substances.
- Attend all relevant training sessions within the department.
- Execute all tasks following the ShopRite Service Priorities, which include prioritizing Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency.
- Be sure to arrive on time and consistently for all scheduled appointments.
- Complete any extra hours required as designated.
- Collaborate effectively with peers.
- Only individuals who are 18 years of age or older are permitted to use balers, forklifts, pallet jacks, and cutting equipment.
- Carry out additional tasks as required.
